Washington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) –  Just like most Republicans, House Speaker John Boehner has always rejected the notion of global warming, opposing every single proposed legislation aimed at reducing greenhouse gases that damage the environment.

Until today.

This morning, Boehner woke up to two feet of snow that fell just outside his luxury apartment  in Washington, D.C. It was a weather scenario never before seen in D.C. or anywhere else.

It was a real eye-opener for the speaker who told reporters, “It will only get worse if we do not take steps to protect our environment. When the new Congress opens in January, I will make climate change a priority in my legislative agenda.”

A global warming convert, and high profile at that. Kudos, Mr. Speaker!

MICHELE BACHMANN TO SUE FOX NEWS OVER ON-AIR HUMILIATION

imageWashington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto blasted Republicans on Wednesday for preparing to file a federal lawsuit challenging the executive actions of President Barack Obama.

During an interview with Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Cavuto belittled the effort as “an enormous waste of effort” and “a political football,” suggesting that President George W. Bush used similar executive authority. The segment devolved into a shouting match, with Cavuto laughing off Bachmann’s indignation about Obama’s use of executive powers.

Bachmann is not taking this on-air humiliation lightly. She is suing Cavuto and Fox News for “disrespecting a person of authority, violation of her freedom of speech,  and for being called silly.”

Bachmann expressed shock that this happened on Fox News which she thought was on the side of Republicans, Tea Party members and conservatives. “That makes it all the more troubling,” she said.

Here’s a video clip of the heated exchange.

SPEAKER BOEHNER THANKS PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR CANTOR’S DEFEAT

imageWashington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Is the Washington gridlock finally coming to an end?

In his first public comment on the primary election defeat of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Speaker John Boehner thanked President Obama for his invaluable role in the victory of Tea Party-backed candidate Dave Brat.  Brat defeated incumbent Cantor in last week’s GOP primary elections in Virginia’s 7th congressional district.

In an unusual conciliatory tone, Boehner told reporters: “You have to understand, the American people are being squeezed by Obama’s policies. The economy is not growing. Incomes aren’t growing. We’re not creating enough jobs. And two-thirds of America have seen no increase in their wages but their food prices are going up, their gas prices are going up, and their health insurance prices are going up. And so there’s a lot of frustration that’s out there, and they look to Washington, and wonder why we can’t resolve these issues. And they’re hard to resolve when you’ve got a president who won’t engage.”

The teary-eyed Boehner concluded: “So, thank you, Mr. President. You have opened our eyes.  I look forward to working with you more closely in the final years of your presidency.”

End of gridlock.
