Cleveland, Ohio (The Adobo Chronicles) – The world stands still as billions of people await the decision of LeBron James on which NBA team he will sign up with — Cleveland Cavaliers or back to Miami Heat. In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, James confirmed what many feared: neither.

Instead, the star basketbal player has decided to leave NBA altogether. He is signing up with the PBA , the professional basketball league of the Philippines.

James is scheduled to fly to Manila this week to sign a contract with team KIA, a new PBA team owned by the Korean car manufacturing company. Recently, KIA annouced that it has named champion boxer and Philippine Congressman Manny Pacquiao as the team’s head coach.

James seems to love working with Filipinos. Miami Heat’s coach, Erik Spoelstra, is Filipino American.

JOAN RIVERS’ NEW BOOK BREAKS ALL BEST SELLER RECORDS

imageNew York, NY (The Adobo Chronicles) – ‘Diary of a Mad Diva’ is the title of a new book by comedian and fashion police Joan Rivers, and it has broken all existing records for bestselling books.

The book is number one in the bestselling lists of The New York Times, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, People Magazine, Time, AARP Magazine, Congressional Quarterly, The Onion, and even the Guinness Book of World Records.

Thanks to the publicity stunt Rivers did during a live interview on CNN where she stormed out of the set in protest of what she called anchor Fredricka Whitfield’s ‘negative questions.’

The video clip immediately went viral and resulted in a temporary shutdown of many Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram accounts.

But it was not just Rivers and her new book that benefited from the stunt. CNN’s declining ratings since the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 suddenly shot up to the roof of its Atlanta headquarters.

Rival cable networks Fox and MSNBC suspect that CNN was in on the stunt.

PRESIDENT AQUINO AWARDED THE NO BILL PRIZE

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles ) – Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino has had a relatively long political career.  Prior to his election as head of state, he was a member of the Congress — as Representative of his native Tarlac province from 1998 to 2007, and as Senator from 2007 to 2010.

Throughout his years in the Legislative body, Aquino focused on the fiscalizing role of a legislator. He felt that there were already too many laws, and good ones at that, but they seemingly lacked proper implementation. He concentrated on crafting laws that would help create opportunity rather than impose additional burdens to those who are already disadvantaged. He actively took part in budget deliberations to ensure that government initiatives do address the plight of the people who need help the most.

Recently, there were reports that his administration’s staff were aggressively lobbying for his nomination for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.  The Adobo Chronicles previously reported that the Nobel Prize Nominating Committee informed the Philippines that Aquino could not be considered for the Prize on moral grounds — his being a chain smoker.

Realizing that Aquino’s chances are anywhere from slim to nothing, his allies in Congress have passed a joint resolution presenting him with a special award — the first Philippine Congressional No Bill Prize.

The prestigious award is in recognition of his many years as a legislator, during which none of the bills he authored or initiated passed Congress.

“It’s the closest thing to a Nobel Prize that he could possibly get,” the resolution said.
