San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Three people were arrested early Thursday morning after a fight broke out at a club and escalated to a shooting in San Francisco’s Castro District, a police spokesman said.

The argument between a 38-year-old man and a group comprised of a 25-year-old woman and two men, ages 25 and 33, started at a club near 18th and Collingwood Street around 2:45 a.m., San Francisco police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

News of the unfortunate incident spread like wildfire among residents and business owners in the Castro and everyone was asking, “Where is the hot cop of Castro when we need him?”  They were, of course, referring to Chris Kohrs, the police officer  who has become one of the most recognized faces in the city and elsewhere after his photo while patrolling Castro Street  was posted on the Internet.  A Facebook fan page was subsequently set up in his honor.  To date, it has garnered over 50,000 ‘likes.’

A reporter from The Adobo Chronicles tried to walk Castro Street all day today in search of Kohrs in order to get his statement about this morning’s the fight and shooting.  The hot cop was nowhere to be found.

Indeed, where is the hot cop of Castro when we need him?

SAN FRANCISCO SEEKS TO BAN SUGAR AND WHIPPED CREAM IN STARBUCKS COFFEE

imageSan Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Buoyed by an earlier approval to include in November’s ballot a proposed two-cent tax per ounce of sodas, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed another measure in its war against sugar.

The new measure, which passed 6-4, will ask San Francisco voters to approve a new city law that would ban Starbucks and other coffee outlets from serving or offering sugar or whipped cream with their coffee.  Tall, grande or venti, only black coffee will be be sold at these outlets, and no sugary enhancements, according to the proposed regulations.

“We want San Francisco to take the lead in the fight against obesity and diabetes,” said board president David Chiu.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles how far the city is willing to go in this healthy obsession, Chiu said: “This is just the beginning. If the two measures are approved by voters in November, we will go after cake shops and ice cream parlors next. We are very confident that with voter support, San Francisco can go totally sugar-free by 2020.”

San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Everyone wants a photo with Chris Kohrs, and television stations want an interview with him.

Kohrs, of course, is the ‘Hot Cop of Castro,’ the San Francisco police officer whose photos have gone viral and whose recently-created Facebook fan page has generated over 25,000 ‘likes’ and counting.  His hot photos – in and out of his police uniform – have created a frenzy never before seen in the gay Castro district or elsewhere. He is constantly being pursued in the streets by fans, gay and straight alike.

A memorandum from the San Francisco Police Department, obtained by The Adobo Chronicles, shows that Kohrs has been placed on paid administrative leave because of his growing popularity.  A spokesperson for SFPD says that the department was left with no choice but to take this action because Kohrs can no longer perform his regular duties due to the mounting requests for media interviews as well as the wave of photo requests he gets from fans while patroling the streets of San Francisco.

SFPD is confident that Kohrs’ popularity will eventually wind down, and at that point, the administrative sanction will be lifted.
