San Francisco, Los Angeles Airports Ban Manny Pacquiao

LOS ANGELES, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Filipino boxer and senatorial candidate Manny Pacquiao may not make it to Las Vegas for his April 9 fight with  Timothy Bradley, Jr. Here’s why:

Both the Los Angeles and San Francisco International Airports have banned Pacquiao from passing through.  There is no direct flight from Manila to Las Vegas.  International passengers heading for Las Vegas have to stop at the L.A. or San Francisco airports which are major ports of entry.

The ban is the result of Pacquiao’s early public comment comparing gay men and women to “worse than animals.”  L.A. and San Francisco are known to be a mecca for the LGBT community.

Earlier, Pacquiao was banned from an upscale mall in Los Angeles also because of his anti-gay comments.  This is the second time that the boxer has been banned from The Grove mall. He was similarly banned years ago when he “castigated” LGBT’s by quoting bible verses (Leviticus) condemning homosexuals and homosexual behaviour.

So it looks like Pacquiao will not only be able to shop or see a movie at the L.A. mall; he will not be able to travel to Las Vegas for his boxing match on April 9.

Perhaps, he will just focus on his senatorial campaign in the Philippines.

Move Over, Hot Cop Of Castro: Here Comes Carrot Man Of The Philippines

imageBAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Obscure men and women become instant celebrities with just one snapshot posted on the Internet.  That’s what happened with Chris Kohrs, the ‘hot cop of Castro’ after an admirer snapped a picture of him while patrolling the gay Castro Street in San Francsico.  The post went viral, and the rest is history.

Now, an unassuming man from a farming family in Sagada, Mountain Province — north of Baguio City — is the new darling of the Internet.

The vegetable farmer was photographed carrying a load of carrots by a Facebook user, Edwina Bandong.  Netizens around the world went crazy.  Many have said he was a lookalike of very prominent Korean actors like Jan Geun-Suk.

His name is Jeyrick Sigmaton, and he is living proof that it doesn’t take multiple postings of your selfie photos for you to become famous.  You just need to be at the right place and right time, and be around someone with a good eye for beauty, and of course, a camera. Or smart phone.

San Francisco LGBTs Rally Behind Manny Pacquiao, Wants Him Honored At This Year’s Pride Celebration

imageSAN FRANCISCO, California ( The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Thousands of gay men and women in San Francisco are coming to the defense of Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao despite his disparaging comments comparing them to animals. In fact, they want to honor him in the coming Pride Parade and Celebration in June this year, his opposition to same-sex marriage notwithstanding.

Each year, the San Francisco Pride committee looks to the LGBT community to help decide on parade grand marshals and other honorees. It is done by public voting.

LGBT community leaders are encouraging community members to vote for Pacquiao for the coveted Pink Brick Award.  If chosen, Pacquiao will be the first Filipino to be honored with this prestigious award.

Previous honorees include George W. Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Boy Scouts of America.

Public voting ends February 29.

For more information on the Pink Brick Award and on the public voting, visit the SF Pride Committee’s website.
