MIAMI, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – In a recent television interview with anchor Jorge Ramos Ávalos, Florida Republican Senator and declared presidential candidate Marco Rubio answered a series of questions about same-sex marriage.

Ávalos is a Mexican-American journalist and author based in Miami.  He anchors the Univision news television program, Noticiero Univision.

During the interview, Rubio was asked whether he would attend a gay wedding if invited by someone close to  him.  The Christian senator responded that despite his opposition to same-sex marriage, he would attend a gay wedding if invited by someone he loves.

Well, just days after the interview, Rubio got the surprise of his Christian life.  Dozens of wedding invitations arrived in his mailbox at his Florida residence, all of which were from his relatives and very close friends who were gay or lesbian.  He admitted that he had no clue whatsoever that some of his beloved relatives and friends were gay. A few of the invitations came from his own campaign staff.

But as a respectable politician that stays true to his word, Rubio told The Adobo Chronicles that he would be attending each and every gay wedding he was invited to.

The senator may have gained some points there. Que bueno!

TORONTO, Canada (The Adobo Chronicles) – Justin Bieber has appealed to Pope Francis to intercede after an Argentine judge issued an arrest warrant for the Canadian singer for failing to respond to summons related to allegations he ordered bodyguards to attack a photographer in 2013.

Judge Alberto Julio Banos ordered the “immediate detention” of Bieber and bodyguards Hugo Alcides Hesny and Terrence Reche Smalls.

Bieber is accused of sending the bodyguards to attack photographer Diego Pesoa outside a Buenos Aires nightclub. Bieber never returned to Argentina to respond to questions about the incident.

Under Argentine law, Bieber would face from one month to six years in prison if convicted on a charge of causing injuries.

After being informed of the arrest order, Bieber immediately asked Pope Francis to convince the judge to cancel the warrant. The singer, who previously had been in trouble with the law many times in the U.S., made his appeal on social media, posting the following message on the Pope’s Facebook page:

“Your Excellency (sic) , please help and use your Argentinan (sic) influence to convince Judge Banos to cancel the warrant for my arrest. With my busy schedule of concerts and recordings, I don’t have the time to fly to Buenos Eres (sic) to appear before the judge. I promise to go to confession and receive Holy Community (sic)  when I come visit The Vatican this summer. I will even stage a free concert at St. Peter’s Square.”

As of presstime, the Pope has not replied to Bieber’s post.

DREAM CONCERT IN INDIANA: AMERICAN IDOL’S CLAY AIKEN AND DAVID ARCHULETA

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (The Adobo Chronicles) – Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), a.k.a. Anti-Gay Legislation, has many unintended consequences. But a music concert?

That’s right, openly-gay Clay Aiken and openly-Mormon David Archuleta have signed a contract to stage a joint concert to be held over the Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis.

Many of course will remember the duo as both runners-up in the reality show ‘American Idol.’  They are now recording artists and have their respective legions of fans and followers, on and off the music circle.

Aiken is just now just recovering from his unsuccessful attempt to represent North Carolina in the U.S. Congress. Archuleta is back on track after his two-year missionary stint with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chile.

Aiken is against Indiana’s RFRA while Archuleta supports it, so that makes this dream concert the biggest deal yet in Indiana since Michael Jackson.

See Archuleta’s controversial tweets here.

Music fans are not going to boycott the concert because of one or the other singer. Both camps have vowed to support their respective idols. And that makes this concert a win-win situation. Even Indiana Governor Mike Pence is attending.

As of midnight last night, the concert, to be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway which has a seating capacity of more than a quarter million, has sold out!

The first 10,000 fans to arrive on concert night will be treated to free pizza from Indianapolis’ Memories Pizza.
