MIAMI, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Marco Rubio said Thursday that he plans to leave the government after the end of his Senate term, and that he’s not interested in being anyone’s Vice President.
“I’m not going to be Vice President,” the Florida Senator told reporters Thursday. “I’m not running for governor of Florida, I’m going to finish out my term in the Senate over the next 10 months… and then I’ll be a private citizen.
By “private citizen,” Rubio means a citizen of Cuba.
“I’m done with the American Dream,” he said, “if American voters, especially the Republicans, don’t want me, then I’m going back to my land of heritage.
The senator, in a very unusual gesture, thanked President Barack Obama for re-opening diplomatic relations with Cuba. “He knows exactly what he’s doing. This will make my transition from American senator to private Cuban citizen much eaiser,” he said.
MIAMI, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – It’s all but over for Republican presidential candidate Senator Marco Rubio. Any minute now, he is expected to announce that he will be suspending his camapaign for the Republican presidential nomination after continued dismal showing in the polls.
Rubio says he has no regrets joining the initially crowded field of GOP presidential aspirants. He is happy that he has, so far, made it to the last four standing candidates.
But reality is finally sinking in for the relatively young politician. “I am tired and worn out. I have chosen to altogether retire from politics and work,” he said today from his Florida home.
As proof of his early retirement plan, Rubio showed off to reporters his newly-acquired furniture which will be his cherished spot in his retirement: a rocking chair. Not just a rocking chair. A GIANT rocking chair.
We wish the senator all the best and congratulate him on his retirement.
HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Brad Pitt will be joining Disney Films in producing the story about an undocumented immigrant from Mexico who came to the United States at 19 and started working on farms in California, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Dr. Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa saved up a ton of money and enrolled in Harvard Medical School. He is currently the head of brain tumor surgery at the famous Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Pitt’s company, Plan B, first started a relationship with the doctor in 2007 and it is now all coming together. Matthew Lopez will be writing the script focused on the surgeon’s life.
Today, Plan B and Disney announced that soon-to-be ex-presidential candidate Marco Rubio will play the role of Quiñones-Hinojosa. Rubio, in real life, is Latino of Cuban heritage.
Pitt told The Adobo Chronicles that the shooting of the film had been put on hold pending the outcome of Rubio’s candidacy, but now that it has become certain that the senator is not going to be the Republican nominee for president, the film production goes in high gear.
It will be a welcome change in career for the handsome Rubio. His selection to play the lead role will be free of criticism in Hollywood where white actors are constantly being tapped to play the roles of people of color.
The Internet group #oscarssowhite immediately praised Rubio’s selection to play the film’s lead character.
