(VIDEO) SAN FRANCISCO MAYOR, CITY OFFICIALS EVICTED!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – In other U.S. cities, protesters block streets and freeways, set vehicles on fire, break storefront windows and loot businesses. In San Francisco, they just take over City Hall.

That’s what happened yesterday as hundreds of protesters rallied at City Hall for a temporary halt to evictions in a popular San Francisco neighborhood where workers in the booming technology sector are accused of pushing out long-time tenants.

The protesters, chanting and screaming in English and Spanish, want a one-year halt on tenant evictions in the diverse Mission District and a two-year moratorium on construction of expensive high and medium-rise condos and other market-rate developments.

They then entered the building and evicted Mayor Ed Lee and all of the members of the city and country board of supervisors.

When City Hall officials called the police department to stop the evictions and restore peace and order, they were informed that 90 percent of the police force, most of them residents of the Mission District, went on leave. They were among the protesters.

Once again, the City by the Bay showed the country — and the world — how things ought to be done. Or undone.

(VIDEO) SAN FRANCISCO PRESBYTERIAN MINISTER HOLDS NEW RUBIK’S CUBE WORLD RECORD!

imageSAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – A new Rubik’s Cube world record has just been set by a San Francisco Presbyterian Church minister when he clocked in at 5.0 seconds, the fastest time solving a 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube.

The previous record was set earlier this year by American teenager Collin Burns at 5.25 seconds, followed by Mats Valk from the Netherlands, at 5.55 seconds in 2013.

The Rev. John Weems broke the record at last Sunday’s church service, witnessed by the congregation at the Calvary Presbyterian Church on Fillmore Street in San Francisco.

HERE’s how he did it.

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Last week, The Adobo Chronicles reported that the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proposal to ban wild and exotic animals from circuses, parades, film and television.

Considered the most liberal and radical in the country, the SF Supes have approved uber measures like banning plastic bags in groceries and supermarkets and outlawing kids’ toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals.

On Friday, the Board unanimously approved to ban the use of wire clothes hangers in the city and county, a measure that San Francisco’s gay community has been clamoring for in the last couple of decades.

Supervisor Scott Wiener said that the “use of wire hangers is contrary to best fashion and grooming practices, what with all those ugly protruding ‘bumps’ on shirt and coat shoulders  resulting from wire hanging.”

In approving the measure, the Board also noted that the ban will also help reduce the number of car thefts, considering that wire hangers are a handy tool for thieves to pick car door locks.

The Human Rights Commision, the largest LGBT advocacy group in the country, immediately praised the new law and said it hopes that other cities and counties throughout the country will consider a similar proposal.
