Miami, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – A recent survey showed that Americans are more fearful of hurricanes and tropical storms named after males. As a result, they prepare less for, and ignore warnings about weather disturbances named after females.  The result? Greater destruction and more fatalities and injuries.

To remedy the situation, the National Hurricane Center in Miami sent a formal proposal to the World Meteorological Organization  (WMO) to name all hurricanes and tropical storms after males. The Geneva-based WMO maintains and manages the official list of names of hurricanes and storms which it rotates and recycles every six years.

Upon learning of the Miami proposal, the National Organization for Women (NOW), the powerful national lobby group advocating for women’s rights, issued a strong statement crying ‘discrimination.’ The statement said, “In these times where the equality movement is gaining momentum, the proposal takes us 10 steps backward.”

The Adobo Chronicles learned that NOW is planning a million women’s march next week that will begin in Washington, D.C. and end in front of the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Barring inclement weather, of course.

OBAMA’S CARBON INITIATIVE IS AT LEAST 30 YEARS LATE, CRITICS SAY

imageWashington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Obama administration on Monday announced one of the strongest actions ever taken by the United States government to fight climate change, a proposed Environmental Protection Agency regulation to cut carbon pollution from the nation’s power plants 30 percent from 2005 levels by 2030.

While the announcement is unprecedented, many believe it is at least 3o years late.  With the onset of personal computer technology in the 1980’s, people had long stopped using typewriters and carbon paper to make duplicate copies. In addition, carbonless paper is now widely used in everyday tasks like making duplicates when manually writing checks from one’s bank checkbook.

“What is there to cut when carbons disappeared decades ago, ” asked House Speaker John Boehner. He added: “And since Obama’s plan is to cut carbon pollution by 2030, that’s adding another 16 years to the lateness of this initiative.”

At least, Boehner got his math correct, environmental activists said.

CATHOLIC CHURCH SAYS MYSTERIOUS BRIGHT LIGHT OVER HAWAII SKIES IS OF DIVINE NATURE

Honolulu, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles) – Hawaii residents were stunned and puzzled by a bright white light that went zigzagging across the skies in Ohau, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island. It happened around 7:30  p.m. on Tuesday. Theories ranged from cloud formation to a plane crashing to a missile launching.

Today the Catholic Archdiocese of Honolulu issued a statement confirming that the sighting was of divine nature. “It simpy confirms what many of us already know – that Hawaii is Paradise ” the statement said.

Civilian authorties immediately downplayed the archdiocese’s statement and said that the phenomenon was caused by “gas emitting from a launched test missile, interacting with the sun as it began to set under the islnds’ clear skies.”

But the Catholic Bishops insisted that only a higher power can bring about such a magnificient sky show, and only in a place like Hawaii that’s totally blessed with great Aloha spirit.

This morning, thousands of residents and tourisits were seen flocking to the St. Augustine By The Sea Catholic Church directly across from Waikiki Beach to give thanks and praise for the great blessing bestowed upon Hawaii.
