Adobo Chronicles To Close Its Philippine Bureau in 2020

View of Manila, Philippines from the International Space Station

SAN JOSE, California (The Adobo Chonicles, San Jose Bureau) – Since 2013, The Adobo Chronicles (AC) has been reporting unbelievable news from its bureaus worldwide, including the Philippines.

But starting in 2020, the San Jose, Calfornia-based news outfit will say goodbye to its Philippine Bureau.

Its Philippine Bureau will be relocated to the Intenational Space Station.  AC will hold the distinction of the first news outlet to establish news operations in space.

The decision follows the signing by President Donald Trump of a new measure creating the 6th branch of the U.S. Military — the U.S. Space Force.

”Now that we are assured of a safe space for our news operations as a result of the creation of the U.S. Space Force, we are ready to explore the rest of the universe,” AC’s publisher said.

AC wil continue to report on Philippine developments but it will do so on a better perspective from above.  It will be able to monitor events not only in the Philippines but elsewhere on earth with the help of space technology.

Upon hearing of the AC announcement, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa reportedly  reprimanded her market development staff for not having the foresight to do what AC is now doing.  “We just lost the opportunity to be ahead of the curve.  Shall we remain on earth just holding the line?”  she told her board of directors and staff.

Adobo Chronicles’ Fearless Forecast For 2020 (Philippines)

We’ve already named our Person of the Year. Now it’s time to reveal our fearless forecast for the coming New Year 2020. In general, our predictions bode well for the Philippines although there are a few sticklers, sticking out like a sore thumb. You’ll easily recognize these sores.

Here goes:

  1. The Philippines will become a net exporter of crabs and bitter gourd (ampalaya) because of an oversupply of the negas, mostly belonging to the 5% who do not approve of President Rodrigo Duterte.
  2. Because of the Rice Tariffication Law now in effect, many farm owners will be forced to sell their agricultural land.  The loss in rice farming is a big gain for Senator Cynthia Villar’s Vista Land.
  3. You can never kill Cardo, so despite the fact that the ABS-CBN broadcasting franchise comes to an end in the first quarter of 2020, FPJs “Ang Probinsiyano” lives on.  It will just move to GMA Channel 7.
  4. Love is lovelier the third time around.  We predict that Vice President Leni Robredo will again be appointed by Duterte to a Cabinet position, this time as the new Executive Secretary, in place of Salvador Medialdea.
  5. Rappler CEO Maria Ressa is running out of awards and citiations from foreign media outfits and Human Lies Organizations.  But no worries. The defunct Newsweek Magazine will come back to life in 2020 and its first “Person of the Year” is none other that the resurrected Ressa.
  6. Thanks to grandstanding U.S. Senators — Partrick Leahy and Dick Durbin, U.S. citizens will now be required to obtain a visa when entering the Philippines.
  7. Meanwhile, Duterte’s “Build, Build, Build” program will be expanded further in 2020, and will be renamed, “Build, Build, Build, Build.”
  8. Christmas 2020 is just less than a year away, so Jose Marie Chan will come up with a new Christmas album to be released on September 1, 2020.

TO ALL OUR READERS, FOLLOWERS AND SUPPORTERS, A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY YOU ALL RECEIVE THE BEST UNBELIEVABLE NEWS IN 2020!

Vera Files’ Ellen Tordesillas Can’t Find The Facts, Tweets U.S. Senators

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – We’ve all been waiting for Vera Files to fact-check news reports that the 2020 Appropriations Acts recently signed by President Donald Trump included a provision that would ban the entry into the U.S. of Philippine officials and others responsible for the alleged wrongful detention of Senator Leila De Lima. We’re all still waiting.

Now we know why: the Facebook fact-checker cannot find the facts, as she admitted in a tweet sent to Senators Dick Durbin and Patrick Leahy, proponents of the supposed ban. Will Vera Files soon tag the news reports as fake?

We can’t really expect the other fact-checker, Rappler, to be checking these reports because of a conflict of interet.  The online news source earlier reported that the U.S. Senators had also urged the Philippine government to drop all criminal charges against its CEO, Maria Ressa.  We’ll let Vera Files fact-check that too.
