PHILIPPINES TO IMPORT 24K GOLD WHEELCHAIRS FOR ITS HIGH-PROFILE JAIL INMATES

lady_gagas_gold_wheelchair_p12l7Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – First, it was designer jail cells, now it’s gold wheelchairs. The Philippine government can’t seem to settle down on how to treat its high-profile inmates, namely, ex-presidents, senators and wealthy business persons charged and detained for crimes ranging from plunder to graft & corruption.

There appears to be a consistent pattern in which famous inmates — from former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Bong Revilla, Jr. to  businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles — suddenly become ill upon their arrest, requiring them to be hospitalized and treated for their ailment. Arroyo is under hospital arrest for corruption and plunder while she was in office, while Enrile, Revilla and Napoles have all been named in the pork barrel scandal currently being prosecuted by the Philippine Ombudsman. Also arrested in the pork barrel scam was Gigi Reyes, Enrile’s former chief of staff.  Reyes immediately fell ill after her arrest and was transferred to a local hospital.

To cope with the increasing need for mobility among these famous inmates, the government of President NoyNoy Aquino has entered into an import agreement with a foreign manufacturer of wheelchairs.  Not just ordinary wheelchairs, but gold wheelchairs.

The 24-karat-gold wheelchairs were designed by Ken Borochov (see photo), the same artist who designed the gold wheelchair of Lady Gaga when the famous singer had a hip surgery earlier this year.  Borochov says that  1.5 ounces of gold were plated on each chair and that his idea was to make them look like thrones. Certainly fit for queens, divas and privileged politicians.

The wheelchairs will be paid for from left over pork barrel funds now in the custody of Malacanang, the presidential palace.

San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Everyone wants a photo with Chris Kohrs, and television stations want an interview with him.

Kohrs, of course, is the ‘Hot Cop of Castro,’ the San Francisco police officer whose photos have gone viral and whose recently-created Facebook fan page has generated over 25,000 ‘likes’ and counting.  His hot photos – in and out of his police uniform – have created a frenzy never before seen in the gay Castro district or elsewhere. He is constantly being pursued in the streets by fans, gay and straight alike.

A memorandum from the San Francisco Police Department, obtained by The Adobo Chronicles, shows that Kohrs has been placed on paid administrative leave because of his growing popularity.  A spokesperson for SFPD says that the department was left with no choice but to take this action because Kohrs can no longer perform his regular duties due to the mounting requests for media interviews as well as the wave of photo requests he gets from fans while patroling the streets of San Francisco.

SFPD is confident that Kohrs’ popularity will eventually wind down, and at that point, the administrative sanction will be lifted.

‘HOT COP OF CASTRO’ NOT A REAL COP

San Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – From San Francisco’s gay Castro district to the four corners of social media, people are swooning over Chris Kohrs, the “Hot Cop of Castro.”  He has become one of the most recognized faces in the city and the Internet, almost eclipsing the popularity of the Stockton suspected felon Jeremy Meeks whose posted mugshot sent top designers pursuing him for modeling contracts and product endorsements.

But Kohrs has just revealed that he is not a real cop. He simply donned a police uniform  so that he could fit in the crowd when he visited the Castro one day.  He knew that it was quite common for visitors to the famed gay district to dress in a variety of attires ranging from nuns to marines to cops to divas. Apparently, someone took a smart phone photo of Kohrs and posted it on the Internet.  That’s when it went viral.

Amused at his sudden popularity, he continued wearing the police uniform each time he walked by the Castro. “I sort of am enjoying the attention,” said the soft-spoken Kohrs. Although he is not gay, he says he likes the very friendly atmosphere in the Castro.

In speaking with The Adobo Chronicles, Kohrs said that so far, he has not received any call from designers, but that Ellen DeGeneres wants him on the Ellen Show. Perhaps the beginning of a new career?
