Vista Land Bids To Construct Condotel Along Manila Sands

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Vista Land, the subdivision and home development company owned by the family of Senator Cynthia Villar, has submitted a bid to construct a condo hotel (condotel) along the new Manila Sands.

Manila Sands is that portion of Manila Bay that was retrofitted with dolomite from Cebu to create a new look — white sandy beach a la Boracay.

The day before the beach opened to the public, Senator Villar visited the site with her developers to finalize the design for the tourist-oriented condotel.

”I totally see the revenue potential of this project and it is definitely in line with our company’s “Acquire, Acquire, Acquire” program to convert farmlands and prime real estate into profitable business ventures,” Villar told The Adobo Chronicles.

Manila Bay White Sands Will Be Closed Until There’s A Vaccine

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – One of the biggest criticism about the white sanding of Manila Bay has been timing.  Many believe that spending a huge amount of money for cosmetic purposes was inappropriate at a time when the country was in a middle of a pandemic that has affected people’s health and  livelihood.

The government argued that the rehabilitation of Manila Bay has been in the works, and in the budget, even before Covid-19.

But when the “new” Manila Bay was opened to the public, all of the government’s efforts to promote physical distancing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus went out the door. Manileños descended upon the bay to get a glimpse and to experience a Boracay moment — all to the detriment of the government’s regulations on minimum health standards.

Today, the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) ordered the immediate closure of Manila Bay, vowing to keep it closed until there’s a coronavirus vaccine.

IATF’s move comes as no surprise as most of its policies in fighting Covid-19 have been consistently  premised on the mantra “until there’s a vaccine.”

To those who were able to frolic in the white sand of the bay, congratulations.  To the rest, see you on the other side of a Covid-19 vaccine!

New Japanese Prime Minister Fist Bumps Philippines’ Duterte!

TOKYO, Japan (The Adobo Chronicles, Tokyo Bureau) – Congratulations and well wishes have been pouring in from world leaders for Japan’s new prime minister  but nothing like the virtual greeting that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte sent over to Yoshihide Suga.

The 5-minute zoom call between the two leaders ended with Duterte flashing his trademark fist bump. Suga was thrilled to return the gesture.

And so began Duterte’s Philippine opponents’ outpouring of criticism against the popular head of state. “Duterte, tuta ng Japan,” they cried. (Duterte, puppet of Japan).

DDS (Duterte Die-hard Supporters) countered with their own messages to the Opposition: “Eat your heart out!”
