PRESIDENT AQUINO AWARDED THE NO BILL PRIZE

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles ) – Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino has had a relatively long political career.  Prior to his election as head of state, he was a member of the Congress — as Representative of his native Tarlac province from 1998 to 2007, and as Senator from 2007 to 2010.

Throughout his years in the Legislative body, Aquino focused on the fiscalizing role of a legislator. He felt that there were already too many laws, and good ones at that, but they seemingly lacked proper implementation. He concentrated on crafting laws that would help create opportunity rather than impose additional burdens to those who are already disadvantaged. He actively took part in budget deliberations to ensure that government initiatives do address the plight of the people who need help the most.

Recently, there were reports that his administration’s staff were aggressively lobbying for his nomination for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize.  The Adobo Chronicles previously reported that the Nobel Prize Nominating Committee informed the Philippines that Aquino could not be considered for the Prize on moral grounds — his being a chain smoker.

Realizing that Aquino’s chances are anywhere from slim to nothing, his allies in Congress have passed a joint resolution presenting him with a special award — the first Philippine Congressional No Bill Prize.

The prestigious award is in recognition of his many years as a legislator, during which none of the bills he authored or initiated passed Congress.

“It’s the closest thing to a Nobel Prize that he could possibly get,” the resolution said.

MILLIONS ARE SWITCHING TO PEPSI AS A RESULT OF COKE CAMPAIGN

imageAtlanta, Georgia (The Adobo Chronicles) – Coca Cola’s most ambitious promo campaign to date is coming back to haunt the giant soda company, and its rival Pepsi is reaping all the benefits.

As summer season began, Coca Cola started rolling out its promo campaign titled ‘Share a Coke.’  It involves the production of limited edition coke bottles that replace the coke logo with popular names like Anna, Justin and Zack.

There is one problem: Coca Cola’s name database has only 250 entries, and that production of the special bottles is not possible if a person’s name is not in the database.

As a result, millions of disgruntled soda consumers whose names are not on Coke’s list are now switching to Pepsi.

Luckily for The Adobo Chronicles, we found our name on Coke’s database.

KRIS AQUINO JUST SPOILED VILMA SANTOS’ CHANCES TO BE NAMED NATIONAL ARTIST

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – In Philippine cinema, there are only two recognized factions of fans: Noranians and Vilmanians. The former are fans of multi-awarded actress Nora Aunor and the latter are followers of rival actress and now governor of Batangas province Vilma Santos.

There is a raging controversy right now surrounding President NoyNoy Aquino’s exclusion of Miss Aunor from this year’s nomination for National Artists. Aquino said that the snub was due to Aunor’s “drug past” and that National Artists should be role models.

Well, the president’s sister, TV host Kris Aquino, a certified Vilmanian, just spoiled Santos’ chances of ever being named National Artist.

Kris posted a photo on her Instagram account – that of some pastries given her by Santos.  With the gift came a handwritten note in which Santos misspelled ‘blessed’  (bless) and ‘truly’ (truely). The post immediately went viral and Noranians were one in saying that National Artists, at the very least, should know how to spell correctly. “They have to be role models,” they said.

A potential great honor that went pooooof, thanks to Kris Aquino!
