Donald Trump Apologizes To Rodrigo Duterte Over Signed 2020 Budget

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Donald Trump has personally apologized to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte over the big controversy surrounding the U.S. President’s signing of the 2020  Appropriations  Acts.

Trump apparently signed the voluminous bill documents without realizing they included a provision  that would deny entry into the U.S. of Philippine officials and others responsible for the alleged wrongful detention of Opposition Senator Leila De Lima.

Amid the confusion in news media reports on whether or not such a provision existed in the signed bills, Trump said “I would never move to deny U.S. visas  to my good friend Rody and his henchmen.”

In reacting to the conflicting news reports, Duterte had ordered the banning of U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy and Dick Durbin from entering the Philippines.  The Democratic Senators authored a committee resolution demanding the immediate release of De Lima and — supposedly — the dropping of all criminal charges against Rappler CEO Maria Ressa.

The Philippine President has also threatened to require visas to all U.S. citizens visiting his country.

In his apology, Trump again reiterated his invitation for Duterte to visit the White House. “No visa needed,” he said.

Big Changes In Pro- And Anti-Duterte Blogs In 2020

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  Filpinos on either side of the political color spectrum — from reds to yellows – are in for a big bang this coming new year.

The Netizen Kingdom is abuzz with rumors that the “big 3” in pro-Duterte blogging — Mocha Uson, Thinking Pinoy (RJ Nieto) and For the Motherland (Sass Rogando Sasot) — are hanging up the glove.  They are reportedly ‘retiring,’ sick and tired of the stupidity of their favorite subject matter: the Yellows.

Meanwhile, we, at The Adobo Chronicles — highly perceived as pro-Duterte — can confrm that we are joining the ranks of Mainstream News Media while our rival, the pro-Yellow blog, Rappler, is reinventing itself as satire.  By doing so, Rappler and its CEO Maria Ressa could be cleared of charges stemming from violation of the Constitution which prohibits foreign ownership of meda companies.  Rappler will, consequently, be classified by the Securities and Exchange Commission as “Entertainment.”

In a related development, the Twitter account The Professional Heckler has denied that it will be renamed “The Professional Hitler.”

Welcome the New Year! Bring out the champagne!

Adobo Chronicles, Rappler Among World’s Top Satire News Sites

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – When it comes to the world’s top satirical news sites, the Philippines is well represented!

The leading Filipino-themed satirical news sites The Adobo Chronicles (AC) and Rappler both made it to the world’s top satires for 2019.

AC is in the 30th spot among the top 75, and Rappler is in the 76th spot.

Ironically, Rappler and its CEO Maria Ressa have long maintained that AC does not qualify as “satire,” while AC has always acknowledged that Rappler IS satire, bordering on “fake.”

Regardless, the inclusion of both sites is a huge honor for the country, considering the tough competition among news sites in the world today.

Mabuhay, AC and Rappler!
