MANILA, Philipines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – It’s been called the “Great Photobomber.” The 46-storey condominium building in Manila’s Luneta Park has been embroiled in deep controversy because Filipinos say it provides an ugly and unpatriotic backdrop to the monument of their national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

Calls have been made to demolish the project and a corresponding lawsuit has been brought before the Philippines’ Supreme Court.

Today, a Manila legislator, Representative Amado Bagatsing, unveiled his common sense proposal to solve the controversy once and for all, and make everyone happy.

His proposal ? Instead of demolishing the condo building, he recommends that the Rizal monument be tilted about 45 degrees to its left  side. By doing so, Bagatsing said that the wide base of the monument will effectively block the unsightly view of Torre De Manila.

Why did it take so long for anyone to come up with this brilliant proposal?

DONALD TRUMP ANGERS ASIANS AND ASIAN AMERICANS

China's Great Wall
China’s Great Wall

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Donald Trump’s disparaging remarks about Mexicans continue to wreak havoc on his business relationships, first with Univision, then NBC Universal, and now Macy’s. All have severed their ties with the presidential candidate.

Now, he has also angered Asians and Asian Americans for proposing to build a “great wall” on the U.S. southern border to keep Mexicans out.

Asians took offense with the comment, saying that Trump practically disrespected one of the world’s greatest wonders — the Great Wall of China — and what it represents.

The Great Wall — or the majority of it — was built during China’s Ming Dynasty, considered one of the greatest eras of orderly government and social stability in human history. “In using a reference to the Great Wall in his misguided tirade against what he believed to be Mexican rapists, drug addicts and criminals, Trump has belittled  a world symbol of greatness, determination and resiliency,” a spokesperson for an Asian American coalition said.

So, not only has Trump lost the Latino vote, but also the Asian American vote. Ironically, a new poll shows Trump surging to second place behind former Florida Governor Jeb Bush in the crowded race for the Republication nomination for president.

Maybe, his message of keeping America free of non-white people is resonating with many conservative voters?

GLITCH: CONSERVATIVES UNABLE TO UPLOAD RAINBOW PRIDE FILTER TO THEIR FACEBOOK PROFILE PHOTOS

SILICON VALLEY, California (The Adobo Chronicles®) – From the Atlantic to the Pacific, from sea to shining sea, rainbow-colored filters are showing up on Facebook pages — all in the name of marriage equality.

Facebook profile photos are now sporting the colors of the gay flag. It all started soon after the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling Friday, declaring that marriage is a constitutional right for all — gay or straight.  The popular social network now enables Facebook users to upload the Pride colors that serve as a filter to their profile photos.

But there is huge glitch.

It appears that that if Facebook detects that the user is a conservative, member of the religious right, or has posted anti gay-marriage comments in the past, a different filter is uploaded  and it’s not anything close to the rainbow colors.

Among the first to notice the glitch was Texas Governor Greg Abbott who has criticized the Supreme Court ruling and is asking his constituents to face the ruling with civil disobedience.

Others with similar experience included Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and Senator Ted Cruz.
