imageHONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – A headline today reads, “Hawaii Becomes First State To Ban Plastic Bags.”  Yet, another headline from 2014 reads, “California Becomes First State to Ban Plastic Bags.” Both headlines are from The Huffington Post.

Perhaps Huffington Post Hawaii is not talking to Huffington Post U.S. Mainland?

We’ll let our readers decide on which is more credible: Huffington Post or Huffington Post.

CITY OF DORAL, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles®) – The ongoing rift between Miss Universe Pageant owner Donald Trump and Univision has escalated in just the last 24 hours, and Mexico is turning out to be the biggest loser.

The rift began when Trump announced that he was running for president of the United States. During that announcement, the business mogul promised that if elected, he would close the southern border so that Mexico would stop sending “rapists, drug addicts and criminals.”

Reacting to Trump’s remarks, Univision, the largest Spanish-language network, said it will not be airing the upcoming Miss U.S.A. pageant or the 2016 Miss Universe Pageant.

Trump was unapologetic and today sent a strongly-worded letter to the Univision’s CEO, banning the network’s personnel from setting foot on the golf course and facilities of the Trump National Doral Miami, site of last year’s Miss Universe Pageant.

In addition, Trump said he was seriously considering Acapulco in Mexico as the site for the 2016 Miss Universe Pageant.  But now that Univision has decided not to air the pageant, Trump said he is inclined to choose Manila in the Philippines as the site for the 2016 pageant.  If held in Manila, the pageant will be broadcast live from the Mall of Asia.

Earlier, Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries in South America threatened to boycott the Miss Universe Pageant because of Trump’s tirade about Mexicans.

Upon hearing the news, current Miss Philippines-Universe title holder Pia Wurtzbach expressed disappointment because she said she had looked forward to traveling Mexico for the 2016 pageant.
