NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – With less than two weeks remaining in its online poll on who readers think should be included in the 2017 100 most influential persons in the world, TIME Magazine has launched an offensive to destroy Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s No. 1 spot.
Duterte leads in the poll with 5% of the votes. The next group of leaders which includes Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Vladimir Putin, Pope Francisc and Justin Trudeau is behind Duterte at 3%.
Donald Trump is way behind at 2% and is tied with 25 others.
Hoping that people’s hatred for Trump will pull down Duterte’s popularity, TIME editors changed the Philippine president’s profile photo on their online poll. It now shows Duterte sporting the same dirty blonde hair which unmistakably belongs to the U.S. president’s head.
“We are confident that people will vote “No” for Duterte once they see his profile picture which would remind them of the Donald.
Meanwhile, despite efforts by a Fil-Am journalist to discourage online voters from picking Duterte, the controversial but popular president remains in the No. 1 spot. And going strong!
