Duterte Orders Closure Of Baguio City

DFC5E270-0736-4BCF-9728-9CD07B3E5E77.jpegBAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – First, it was Boracay that President Rodrigo Duterte ordered closed for rehabilitation.  Next up is Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines.

The annual Holy Week trek to this mountain resort has begun.  Thousands upon thousands of lowlanders go up to Baguio to escape the summer heat and to experience a breath of fresh and cool air that the city is famous for.

But alas, many visitors may not find what they’re looking for.  Gone is the scent of pine trees. Gone are the sunflowers that adorn the facade of the city’s mountains and hills. Traffic has become a nightmare, and pollution has become an everyday occurence.  Visitors can expect a short supply of water and electricity.  It’s an environmental disaster.

So today, Holy Monday, President Duterte ordered the closure of Baguio City and gave local officials 60 days to rehabilitate this once-upon-a-time R&R haven for the U.S. military.

The closure begins Monday after Easter Sunday.

So if you’re in Baguio now, make the most of it.  Unless you’re a city resident, this may be your last chance to go horseback-riding, shopping for fresh vegetables and strawberries, and wearing the sweater that’s been kept in your closet all year round.

DAVAO CITY,  Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Burea – President Rodrigo Duterte said he wants to “close” popular beach island Boracay if its environmental problems are not resolved in 6 months.

“I will close Boracay. Boracay is a cesspool,” Duterte said on Friday night, February 9, during the Manila Times Business Forum in Davao City.

Duterte said the sewerage problem in the top tourist destination is wreaking havoc on the island’s ecosystem.

But when asked by The Adobo Chronicles why he was so concerned about the deterioration of Boracay, he said that he wants to build a Malacañang for the Visayas in this prime tourist destination.

Eventually, we will have a presidential palace in each of the three islands – Luzon (Manila), Mindanao (Davao) and the Visayas (Boracay).

’Whenever we have visiting heads of state or foreign dignitaries, we will bring them directly to the Malacañang of the Visayas to spare them from the traffic nightmare and pollution  in Manila,’ Duterte said.

’And what better way to host our foreign guests than in one of the most beautiful beaches in the world,’ he added.

Donald Trump To Seven Words: You’re Fired!

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – The Washington Post is reporting that the Trump administration has banned officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from using these seven words in budget documents

  • evidence-based
  • science-based
  • vulnerable
  • entitlement
  • diversity
  • transgender
  • fetus

So, before Trump permanently says “You’re fired!” to these seven words, The Adobo Chronicles would like to use all of them in one sentence.  Perhaps for the last time:

In an apparent move to discredit evidence-based and science-based informaton, U.S. Donald Trump showed off his Presidential entitlement by admonishing vulnerable health officials to refrain from supporting diversity that could endanger the transgender fetus.
