HOUSTON, Texas (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick just found an ally in his refusal to stand for the playing of the national athem in protest of what he deems are wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States. That ally is none other than Lady Gaga.

The diva sang the national anthem at last year’s Superbowl 50 at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara — standing up of course — but she will sit it out during Superbowl 51 at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on February 5, 2017.

Lady Gaga, if we were to believe US Magazine, has been chosen to perform during the half-time show for Superbowl 51.

When the national anthem is sung (singer still to be announced), Lady Gaga will be seated inside the green room while awaiting her turn to perform for the half-time show.

The old, left, and the new International Market Place (Photo credit: civilbeat.com)

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – Hawaii residents and visitors have very poignant memories of the old International Market Place in the heart of Waikiki.

For a few bucks, one can purchase locally-made puka shells, inexpensive ukeleles, aloha shirts, beach mats and many more.

But gone are the days of the old market.  Enter the new International Market Place.

The banyan tree and some unearthed Hawaiian burial sites have been preserved, but everything else is new, including a modern English translation of the word, “Aloha.”

White the old market greeted visitors with a warm “Aloha” sign and message, the new market chose to replace it with an English translation: Saks Fifth Avenue.

Enough said.

If Trump Loses, There Will Be Taco And Lumpia Trucks On Every Corner In The U.S.

image.jpegLOS ANGELES, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – Despite his anti-immigrant pronouncements, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to enjoy the support of minority communitieso in the U.S., including Latinos and Filipinos.

Yesterday, the founder of Latinos for Trump — Marco Gutierrez — warned that if their candidate loses in November, “you’re gonna have taco trucks on every corner.”

Shortly thereafter, the Filipinos for Trump echoed a similar sentiment, saying that only a Trump victory will prevent the proliferation of lumpia trucks in California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Hawaii and other U.S. states and cities with large Pinoy populations.

Both organizations urged their respective communities to do all they can to make sure Trump is elected president in order to keep  America white and great again.
