APPLE TO RELEASE CHEAP AND DISPOSABLE VERSION OF GOOGLE GLASS

Cupertino, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Move over, Google Glass. Here comes iGlass, and it’s cheap and disposable!

Apple announced today that as part of its venture into wearable technology, it is releasing a Beta version of what it hopes would be its answer to the $1,500 Google Glass.

The iGlass will be released together with the Apple watch in early 2015.

Apple’s iGlass will do just about everything that the Google Glass is capable of, except that it is cheap — at $39.99 — and disposable. And did we mention recyclable?

The iGlass is made of collapsible cardboard that attaches with a ribbon (included) to a baseball cap (not included). Giants fans, this is for you!

When not in use, iGlass can be collapsed and neatly stored in your drawer or your car’s glove compartment. However, iGlass must be partnered with either an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus (sorry Android fans, you just have to stick to the more expensive Google Glass).  The iPhone is then attached, snuggly, to the cardboard casing and all you need to do is download the iGlass app from the Apple Store to make it work.

Pre-orders are now being accepted, just in time for the gift-giving holidays. So, delay your gift-giving for now and send your loved ones a raincheck for the iGlass coming in January to an Apple Store near you.

FAMOUS VEGAN DJ SUES LONGGANISA MAKER FOR PRODUCT MISLABELING

imageLos Angeles, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – A famous DJ in California is suing the maker of a popular Filipino pork sausage, known as longganisa, for package mislabeling that led her to eat meat.  DJ Miki Taka is a practising vegan (does not eat meat and dairy).

The product in question is a frozen package of Vigan longganisa sold at 99 Ranch Supermarket.

Earlier, Ms. Taka posted the following comment on her Instagram account:

Vigan is, in fact, a city in Ilocos Sur province in Northern Philippines. Vigan longganisa is a popular delicacy in this historic city that has been designated a United Nations (UNESCO) World Heritage Centre.

Ms. Taka mistakenly assumed that the package label contained a typographical error and that she was buying a vegan sausage.

She is suing 99 Ranch Market for a undisclosed amount, citing emotional and physical distress and violation of her sacred lifestyle.

OBAMA EXPECTED TO ISSUE IMMIGRATION EXECUTIVE ORDER: WHAT’S WAL-MART GOT TO DO WITH IT?

Washington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Sources close to Barack Obama have all but confirmed that the President is preparing to issue an executive order that would, among other things, halt the deportation of some 5 Million undocumented immigrants.

Many will recall that in 2012, Obama issued a similar EO halting the deportation of hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children. It was known as DACA, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

The new order, which the President is expected to issue upon his return from his trip to Asia, will allow undocumented parents of children born in the U.S. to remain in the country and have the opportunity to apply for some legal status.

If and when issued, this new executive order will put the President in direct confrontation with Republican Senators and Congressmen who have vowed to stop Obama from bypassing the legislature when it comes to changes in immigration policy.

Legal experts say that Congress cannot overturn an executive order but it can refuse to fund activities stemming from all or parts of it, which makes it a challenge to the Obama administration when it comes to implementing the order.

Enter the Waltons – the billionaire owners of Wal-Mart, the largest private employer in the United States.

Wal-Mart is infamous for its unfair labor laws and employment practices ranging from wage law violations, inadequate health care, exploitation, and its anti-union stance.  But the Waltons have sent signals to the White House that if Congress refuses to fund Obama’s immigration Executive Order, Wal-Mart will provide all the needed funds for implementation. The Waltons are worth a combined total of $152 Billion as of July, 2014.

What’s in it for Wal-Mart? Well, that’s 5 Million potential workers they can employ under substandard labor conditions, which means increased profits for the company.  In no time, Wal-Mart can recoup whatever amount it spends to fund Obama’s immigration order.

Once again, the Republicans have been out-smarted. Obama wins. Unfortunately, so does Wal-Mart.
