CAITLYN JENNER TO HEADLINE REPUBLICAN FUNDRAISER IN SAN FRANCISCO

imageSAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The Republican Party just knows that San  Francisco’s  LGBT community is dying to see Caitlyn Jenner in person and pay big bucks for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  So the GOP is bringing Jenner to the City by the Bay to headline a fundraiser to raise funds for the 2016 presidential political campaign.

San Franciscans will have that opportunity on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the War Memorial at 8:00 p.m.  It is being described as an “intimate” event with  the former Bruce Jenner. It is sponsored by Unique Life Experiences and San Francisco Chronicle.

Tickets are $40 each, but special VIP tickets, reportedly priced at $500 (that’s about a fifth of the rent for a one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco) will afford Jenner fans a rare opportunity to have a selfie photo with the Olympic star turned reality TV show celebrity.

The Adobo Chronicles® tried to contact the Transgender Law Center and other transgender groups in the San Francisco Bay Area for comment but our calls have not yet been returned as of presstime.

Stay tuned.

PRESIDENT OBAMA TO BE AWARDED SECOND NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

imageSTOCKHOLM, Sweden (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – When President Barack Obama was announced as the recipient of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, the decision was met with much controversy.

Obama admitted that he was surprised by the choice. Conservatives were quick to express their outrage and even supporters of the president questioned whether the award was deserved.

Six years later, Geir Lundestad, long-time director of the Nobel Institute and secretary of the Nobel Peace Prize committee, has commented publicly on the decision. In “Secretary of Peace, 25 years With The Nobel Prize,” a new memoir released on Thursday, he said Obama’s award “failed to live up to the panel’s expectations.”

However, inside sources have confirmed to The Adobo Chronicles® that the Nobel Prize jury does not agree with Lundestad’s comment.  In fact, when the 2015 Nobel Prize winners are announced next month, Obama will be awarded a second Nobel Peace Prize.

The jury is of the opinion that contrary to Lundestad’s assessment, Obama has exceeded the panel’s expectations. “Since Obama’s first award, he has made peace with Iraq, Iran,  Afghanistan, Syria, Russia, China, North Korea and lately, Cuba.  Domestically, he has also made peace with Hilliary Clinton and the Republican Party. No other world leader has come close to this amazing accomplishment,” the jury said.

In the history of the Nobel Prize, only two have been awarded the Peace Prize more than once:  the International Committee of the Red Cross (3 times) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees  (2 times).

Upon hearing the news, Pope Francis, who is scheduled to visit the United States later this month, sent his congratulations and blessings.

But one person is not happy about Obama’s second Nobel Prize:  Donald Trump.

‘THE MIKADO’ CANCELLED, NO MORE FILIPINOS IN ‘MISS SAIGON,’ ONLY FRENCH ACTORS IN ‘LES MIZ’

imageNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – In response to backlash on using white actors to portray Japanese characters, the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players had just announced that their stage production of THE MIKADO, scheduled for the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts this December has been cancelled.

The musical, penned by librettist W.S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan (Pirates of Penzance, H.M.D. Pinafore) premiered at The Savoy Theatre in 1885. The play is set in the fictional Japanese town of Titipu.

Many modern-day critics and Asian American groups have called for the re-writing of the play and demanded that Asian actors play the characters in new productions. The cancellation of the New York production is regarded as a victory for political correctness in the increasing diversity of societies worldwide.

But as BroadwayWorld’s Michael Dale wrote in his column  titled, “Is It Time to Rewrite THE MIKADO?” :  “It’s unlikely that Gilbert had meant THE MIKADO to be taken as a serious attack on insensitive white people appropriating another culture for their own entertainment. He was more concerned with lightheartedly satirizing his countrymen’s foibles.”

THE MIKADO controversy is giving theater production groups some chills and they are being proactive in making sure that their stage productions will not be dealt with similar protests and controversy.

For starters, future productions of ‘Miss Saigon’ (where Filipino musicians have dominated the casting) will now only feature Vietnamese actors playing Vietnamese characters.

Likewise, “Les Miserables” productions will now ban non-French actors.

Political correctness gone too correct.
