PHILIPPINES PRESIDENT NOW HOLDS GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR LONGEST SONA

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – It’s official. Philippines President NoyNoy Aquino now holds the Guinness World Record for the longest State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Aquino delivered his last SONA Monday night before a joint session of Congress. From his first word to the last, it took him two hours and ten minutes, beating all other lenghty SONAs anywhere in the world.

In the U.S., most presidents keep their State of the Union Address (SOTU) under one hour, although occasionally they would go over. President Bill Clinton holds the U.S. record for the longest SOTU for his January 27, 2000 address which ran for one hour, twenty eight minutes and forty nine seconds.

Aquino’s SONA was occasionally interrupted by brief applause, yawns, a sip of water and his smoker’s cough.

The Guinness World Record will go down in history as the greatest legacy of any Philippine president, dead or alive.

imageQUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino on Monday delivered the longest State of the Nation Address (SONA) in the country’s history and used the podium at the joint session of Congress to thank his hairdresser.

For two hours and ten minutes, Aquino, speaking in Tagalog, focused on two major themes: blaming his predecessor for all that is wrong with the country and thanking his entire personal entourage.

In addition to his hairdresser, he thanked his wardrobe consultant, his nanny, his security detail, his personal secretary, his spiritual counselor, his parents, his sisters and in-laws, his smoking buddies, and finally his bosses — the Filipino people.

If his  last SONA sounded like an acceptance speech at a film awards presentation, it is because it was.  The Adobo Chronicles®  learned that Aquino’s sister, actress and television talk show host Kris, wrote majority of what he said in his SONA.

In addition to calling it an acting award acceptance speech, critics have called the speech a SOPA, or State of the Previous Administration.

MIAMI, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Donald Trump can’t handle the truth — that even his beauty queens don’t support his pronouncements about Mexicans and immigrants.

Trump has made illegal immigration the centerpiece of his bid to become the next president of the United States.  He not only called for the building of a great wall in the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico, but  maintained that Mexico is sending rapists, drug addicts and criminals to America.

That didn’t sit well with reigning Miss Universe Paulina Vega of Colombia. She criticized Trump for his comments, joining the chorus of Latin countries in denouncing the Republican presidential candidate for his racist remarks.

Trump called Vega a “hypocrite” for criticizing him while wanting to hold on to the Miss Universe crown.

Well, Trump, owner of the Miss Universe Pageant, has the last word, just like in his reality TV show, ‘The Apprentice.”  He told Vega, “You’re fired!’

In accordance with Miss Universe regulations, whenever the reigning Miss Universe, for whatever reason, is unable to fulfill her duties, the first runner-up becomes Miss Universe.  That would mean Miss U.S.A. Nia Sanchez.

But there is a problem.

Sanchez is Latina and is not willing to wear the Miss Universe crown because of Trump’s anti-Latin comments.

So, the Miss Universe title is currently vacant.

But Miss Philippines MJ Lastimosa volunteered to wear the crown if Trump was okay with it.
