FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS ISSUE TRAVEL ADVISORY ON U.S.

imageSYDNEY, Australia (The Adobo Chronicles) – It is not uncommon for the U.S. State Department to issue travel advisories to Americans visiting or living in countries where there is violence, safety concerns, or terrorist threats.  But it seems the tides have turned.

At least a dozen countries (and the number is growing) in Asia and Europe have issued travel warnings to their citizens to postpone if not altogether cancel their scheduled business or leisurely travel to the United States because of serious and credible concerns about their safety.

The Foreign Affairs Departments of these countries issued the travel warning following the latest mass shooting that killed 14 and injured scores of others in San Bernardino, California.  It was the latest in a pattern of gun violence in the U.S., and was the 355th mass shooting for the year.

The foreign governments have indicated that their travel advisories will only be lifted if and when the U.S. Congress passes a comprehensive legislation banning assault weapons and instituting more stringent regulations on gun ownership.

Republican legislators and presidential candidates appeared unfazed by the travel advisories, threatening instead to completely eliminate the U.S. visa waiver program which grants citizens of certain foreign countries a visa-free visit to the U.S. for business or pleasure.

Wall Street investors are now nervous about the impact of the travel advisories on their respective businesses and fear that another stock market crash is in the offing.

STATE DEPARTMENT ADVISES OBAMA TO WRAP HIS BRIEFCASE WHEN HE VISITS THE PHILIPPINES FOR THE APEC SUMMIT

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) –  U.S. President Barack Obama is just one of the many dignitaries confirmed to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit to be held this month in Manila, Philippines.

Recent  developments at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) have sent chills to the international community and has prompted the U.S. State Department to issue a travel advisory to Americans traveling to the Philippines, including Obama.

NAIA has been in the headlines recently because of a scheme called laglag bala  or tanim bala in which incoming and outgoing passengers at NAIA are being detained for bullets found in their luggage as they pass through airport security.  It is alleged that the bullets are being planted by airport personnel with the intent of extorting money from the unsuspecting passengers.

Obama is known to want to carry his own overnight bag and briefcase whenever he travels to other countries.

The State Department has therefore advised Obama to wrap his briefcase with plastic when he arrives in and departs from Manila so that he is not victimized by the laglag bala schemers.

Many passengers flying in and out of NAIA have resorted to wrapping their luggage and carry-on bags with plastic to prevent the schemers from planting bullets without their knowledge.

WASHINGTON, D.C.  (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Critics and political opponents of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton found what they were hoping for in the State Department’s newly-released personal emails from the former Secretary of State: something really fishy.

The newest trove of more than 7,000 of Clinton’s emails were released Monday night, showcasing more of the mundane political notes and scheduling requests that have been released earlier.

The emails show Clinton was a little obsessed with criticism from Fox News and was eager to check out NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” and CBS’ “The Good Wife.”  In addition, a series of emails surfaced that could all but damage Clinton’s candidacy for president. It’s all about Gefilte fish.

Gefilte fish is a Jewish dish made from a poached mixture of ground boned fish which is typically eaten as an appetizer. The dish is popular on Shabbat and Holidays such as Passover, although they may be consumed throughout the year. Some versions of Gefilte fish are baked in a Bundt cake pan and made with Matzo meal and carrots. The dish usually uses white fish, but it could be made with other fish like salmon.

Now, whoever is anointed Republican nominee for president in the 2016 elections will have enough amunition to wage a  strong campaign against the presumed Democratic nominee, Hillary. Thanks to the fishy emails.
