DORAL, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – The 63rd Miss Universe Pageant will be held on January 25, 2015, at the US Century Bank Arena at Florida International University in Doral, Florida.

Who will succeed reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler of Venezuela? That final decision will be in the hands of a distinguished international panel of judges.

Unconfirmed reports say that Filipino world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao has been invited to be one of the judges. Pacquiao is not only a boxer; he is a basketball coach and player, a music lover (Karaoke), a one-star general in the Philippines Armed Forces, an elected Congressman, and a connoiseur of beauty.

The only thing that is preventing Pacquiao from accepting the invitation is his mom’s demand to Miss Universe Pageant owner Donald Trump that she replace her son as judge. “I am more qualified than Manny to judge beauty and talent, and I have an equally recognized status as an international celebrity,” the mom, popularly known as Mommy Dionisia, told reporters in Manila.

Trump will make a decision in the coming days.

As the pageant’s season is heating up, there have been the early crowd favorites named including Miss USA Nia Sanchez, Miss India Noyonita Lodh, Miss Brazil Melissa Gurgel, and Miss Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa.

As of the moment, Miss Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa garners the most likes and shares on the official Facebook page of Miss Universe. The contestant has been loudly recognized on the social media for being ‘such an advocate for peace and humanity’ considering that she grew up on a war-torn province in her country.

Meanwhile, Natalie Morales and Thomas Roberts are appointed as the hosts of the grand event, together with Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up Ariella Arida from Philippines as an ‘On the Scene’ insider.

There will be ample Philippines representation at the pageant in Doral — a contestant, a judge, an ‘On the Scene’ commentator and  hundreds of the estimated 21,000 Florida-based Filipinos  who live in the Metropolitan Miami Area.

BRADLEY COOPER’S NIPPLES MAKE THE HEADLINES

imageHOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – It was either a slow news day or the Gawker.com writer was high on some performance-enhancing drugs. Or perhaps she is a lesbian, looking for huge nipples.

Writer Caty Weaver wrote a scathing article commenting  on Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper’s photos on the cover of the February issue of W magazine . The actor was in the costume of a nearly naked French clown. The photos bared his nipples to the entire world to see.

Apparently Weaver questioned whether they were nipples or something else — like pink chocolate chips, M&Ms, push pins , dried berries, even salami. “Are they nipples? They’re so teeny, teeny tiny,” Weaver asked in her article.

Bradley fans were quick to respond to the Gawker article, saying, “Cooper’s nipples are just fine.  They’re perfect, in fact. Thank you  very much!”

Well, that says it all, doesn’t it?

PHILIPPINES VICE PRESIDENT WANTS TO CONVERT NATIONAL PENITENTIARY INTO PRESIDENTIAL PALACE

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Philippines’ National Penitentiary (New Bilibid Prison) in Metro Manila has been in the headlines recently after the Justice Department uncovered luxury prison cells occupied by incarcerated drug lords. Among other things, VIP (Very Important Prisoners) inmates had jacuzzis, sleep number beds, airconditioners, life-sized inflatable sex toys, even a recording studio.

Many have proposed that the goverment transfer the prison to an island surrounded by water, much like San Francisco’s famed Alcatraz prison.

Vice President Jejomar Binay, who continues to be the frontrunner among potential candidates for president in 2016, likes the idea of an island prison. So what does he want to do with the existing New Bilibid Prison building? He wants to convert it to a presidential palace to replace the existing one, Malacañang Palace.

“If I become president, I will relocate the presidential palace from its current location by the Pasig River to this historic and landmark prison building,” Binay said. “We don’t need to spend millions of pesos dismantling the luxury rooms and amenities at the New Bilibid Prison. We’ll spend less by just refurbishing the building and converting it to the new Malacañang,” he added.

The Vice President believes that relocating the presidential palace to the penitentiary will “bring the government closer to the people.”

“Besides, look at the facade of the building. It really looks like a castle and a palace,” Binay told reporters.
