Master Protester Convenes Huge Rally To Support Duterte

MANILA Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – He’s known in  socio-political circles as the “master protestor.” It has been his full-time job to organize and lead rallies, mostly against the establishment, the Duterte administration included.

Renato Reyes is calling for a huge rally on Friday, January 31, this time to express all-out support for Rodrigo Duterte.  The call was prompted by the President’s recent move to begin the process of canceling the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with the United States of America.

The VFA allows the use of military and other facilites in the Philippines by U.S. forces and their entry into the country without the need for permits or visas.

Duterte has said he now wants to cancel the agreement in the light of the cancellation of the U.S. visa of Senator Ronald Bato, his close ally and former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) which has led operations under the war on drugs.

Reyes is confident he can gather more than one million Filipinos for this rally to support Duterte’s decision.

Reyes and his allies in the Opposition have long been clamoring for the termination of the VFA, but their call have fallen on deaf ears.

With the impending termination by Duterte of the VFA, Reyes couldn’t be more proud, and shall we say, is claiming credit for it.

Baguio City Declares NPA, LP Persona Non Grata

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – The summer capital of the Philippines and the rest of the Cordillera Region have taken the lead in isolating members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and all groups that are perceived to be anti-government and anti-Filipino, including the very liberal Liberal Party.

Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced a new policy that declares the NPA and the Liberal Party to be “Persona Non Grata.”  As such, members of these two groups are off limits to the City of Pines.

The new policy comes just weeks before Baguio launches its popular month-long Panagbenga Festival which easily attracts one million people.

Magalong said anyone associated with NPA and LP seen roaming the streets of Baguio will be immediately arrested and detained in newly-constructed jail cells next to the city’s dumpsite in Irisan.

Talk about nabubulok (non-recyclable)!

Final Episode Of “Ang Probinsyano” Airs March 30, New Teleserye Planned

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – The longest-running teleserye on Philippine television will finally come to an end!

FPJ’s “Ang Probinsyano” which started airing in September of 2015 on ABS-CBN, will bow out with its final epidsode on March 30, 2020, coinciding with the franchise expiration of the broadcast network owned by the Lopez oligarchy.

While there are desperate efforts to convince Congress to renew the franchise, including an online petition started by the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP), the producers of the popular teleserye said that they’ve all but run out of script ideas to keep it going.

One of the mainstays of the show, Miss Susan Roces, mother of Senator Grace Poe, told The Adobo Chronicles that in the final episode, the main character Cardo, played by Coco Martin, will finally die — killed by the bad elements.

Sources close to the powers that be at ABS-CBN said that should the network’s franchise be renewed, the plan is to start an all-new, improved teleserye titled “Six In The City,” starring Vice Ganda, Lea Salonga, Anne Curtis, Agot Isidro, Ogie Alcasid, and Mutya Ng Masa Doris Bigornia.

Staru tuned!
