Philippines To Begin Exporting Designer Balut

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – While some countries like France, Italy and Spain are known for their gourmet cuisine, the Philippines is leading the way in exporting its indigenous cuisine, the designer way — starting with balut.

Balut are boiled, fertilized duck eggs that contain not only a yolk but also a semi- developed duck embryo.

While many enjoy this delicacy, others cringe even with just the idea of consuming balut.

Well, that’s about to change.

Jollibee, the country’s leading fast-food chain which has established franchises the world over, has announced that starting in February, it will start exporting designer versions of this lowly Filipino street food.  It will also serve  it as part of their late afternoona and evening menu.

A spokesperson for Jollibee told The Adobo Chronicles that the company hopes that by adding a designer feel to balut, more people will be enticed to try and continue to enjoy this unique Filipino delicacy.

By Maria bRat

MANILA, Phiippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In a recent statement made in Makati City, Vice President Len i Robredo said that relevant government agencies in the Philippines should take the coronavirus very seriously.

She was reacting to alarming news that the deadly virus has spread not only in China but other countries as well.  She was very concerned (nakakabahala) that the virus will reach the Philippines in due time.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles what specific recommendations she has in mind, Robredo said that Teddy Boy Locsin of the Department of Foreign Affairs should immediately deny Philippine visas to coronaviruses.

”If our government can deny visas to U.S. Senators, there’s no reason why we can’t do the same for coronaviruses,” she said.

She also said she would welcome being appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as the country’s Health Czar, even if it’s just for two weeks.

That’s your VP — taking the epidemic viruseriously!

Maria Ressa Nominated For Best Actress At Sundance Film Festival
