PHILIPPINE TOWN TOTALLY BANS URINATING

image
Bottom half of the sign reads, “It is prohibited to urinate anywhere!”

TARLAC, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – If you happen to be a resident of the town Camiling, Tarlac province (home province of Philippine President Aquino’s family) and you feel like answering the call of nature, then you are out of luck . You have to drive to the next town to urinate.

A new municipal ordinance has just been passed prohibiting urinating — anywhere — in Camiling. Not in parks, not in street corners, not anywhere public or private. Yes, not even in the comfort of your own home.

Violation of the ordinance carries with it a fine of 500 Pesos ( about $11).

Camiling, it seems, is going for a Guinness Record as the one and only urine-free place in the world.

If you think this story is a hoax, look closely.  We’ve got the public notice to prove the new law soes exist.  (If you don’t speak or understand Tagalog, ask your Filipino co-worker or neighbor for a translation!)

2015 is “Visit the Philippines” Year! Oh what fun!

DEAL REACHED IN RENAMING PHILIPPINE AIRPORTS AND EXPRESSWAYS AFTER THE AQUINOS

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – There had been a lot of debate over the proposal to rename the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) after the late President Cory Aquino.

Many critics have commented that there seems to be a master plan to name and rename major Philippine infrastructure to permanently establish the legacy of the Aquino family. Of course, we all know that Manila’s international airport is named after Cory’s husband Ninoy (Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA).

So what about the other Aquinos?

Well, a deal has been finally reached as a compromise, agreed to by no less than President NoyNoy Aquino himself. The new names will honor the president’s mother and  four sisters.

The Clark International Airport will be renamed Cory Aquino International Airport (CAIA).

The Southern Luzon Expressway  (SLEX) will be renamed Maria Elena Aquino Expressway (MEAEX)

The Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will be renamed Victoria Aquino Expressway (VAEX)

The Manila North Expressway (MNEX) will be renamed Aurora Aquino Expressway (AAEX)

So what about the most famous Aquino sister, Kris?

President Aquino announced that his administration will build a new South Expressway (SEX) in Manila and will be named Kris Aquino South Expressway (KASEX).

As for the president himself, the Pan-Philippine Highway which extends from Laoag City in Northern Luzon to Zamboanga City in Mindano will be renamed NoyNoy Aquino Highway.

Hindi namin kayo malilimutan.  (We will never forget you). Long live the Aquinos!

NEWEST PHILIPPINES’ TOURISM CAMPAIGN FEATURES IMELDA MARCOS AND SURVIVING BEATLES

Ringo, Imelda, and Paul

MANILA, Philippines ( The Adobo Chronicles) – ‘Give Peace A Chance.’ That’s the theme of the newest campaign by the Philippines’ Department of Tourism (DOT) to promote tourism to this peace-loving nation of 100 Million people.

The campaign will be officially launched on July 4 this year with a grand ‘reunion’ among former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos and the surviving Beatles Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney.  The launch date happens to mark the 49th anniversary of the Beatles’ first and only visit to the Philippines.

Forty-nine years ago, the Beatles arrived in Manila for two sold-our concerts, considered the Liverpool band’s most attended live performance ever.

But the euphoria that met Paul, John, George and Ringo immediately turned sour when the quartet failed to show up at a reception arranged by Marcos at Malacañang, the presidential palace. Marcos complained that she was stood up, but the Beatles have always maintained that no one ever told them about the scheduled visit. The media and the Filipinos rallied behind Marcos, resulting in an ugly send-off for the Beatles who vowed never to return to the country.

The DOT campaign hopes to inspire people around the world to visit the Philippines this year as the Aquino government continues to negotiate with Muslim separatists  for peace and unity.

The historic July 4th meeting between Imelda and the surviving Beatles will be held during a musical concert at the Philippine Arena, considered to be the world’s largest indoor arena. It is owned by Iglesia Ni Kristo (Church of Christ), the second largest religious denomination in the Philippines, next to the Catholic Church.

‘Give Peace A Chance’ happens to be a song composed by another Beatle, John Lennon. It has been, and continues to be, a favorite theme song for peace movements all over the world.
