WILL ROSE FOSTANES BE THE LAST FILIPINA STANDING?

imageTel Aviv, Israel – Tuesday is the finals for the first-ever X Factor Israel, and the winner could possibly be someone but Israeli.  Filipina caregiver Rose Fostanes is among the four finalists vying for the title.

Whether or not Fostanes wins  isn’t the big issue.  As reported earlier by The Adobo Chronicles, Filipinos will soon be banned from participating in all international reality TV singing competitions — from X Factor to American Idol to The Voice. The reason? Because Filipinos are such good musicians they have an “unfair advantage” over competitors of other nationalities, according to TV producers. Read the full story HERE.

FACEBOOK TO BANISH ‘SELFIES’ BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2014

imageMenlo Park, California- It doesn’t matter that “selfie” was chosen the 2013 word of the year by the Oxford Dictionaries.

On the eve of New Year’s, Facebook announced that begining January 1, it will banish all selfies from its social networking site because majority of its subscribers have expressed annoyance over the posting of self-shot photos.

Facebook has installed a selfie detection device that would delete said photos even before they are posted online. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, speaking from his office at the Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, California, defended the decision by saying that “it is not that difficult to ask someone else to take one’s picture — your server at the restaurant, your fellow tourist at scenic spots, even your little brother or sister at home.” Zuckerberg also pointed out that  the “mirror image” you see in a selfie is just an illusion. “In the eyes of others seeing your selfie, you don’t look anywhere close compared to a photo of you taken by another person,” he added.

Other social networking sites like Pinterest and LinkedIn are reportedly also considering a similar ban.

The good news for selfie addicts is that the ban is not retroactive. This means that all selfies posted as of midnight on December 31, 2013, will forever live in infamy on the Internet.

SARAH PALIN DEFENDS ‘THE ADOBO CHRONICLES’

PALIN-McCAINHonolulu, Hawaii – Last week, Sarah Palin defended “Duck Dynasty’ star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay and racist comments he made on GQ magazine, saying that the patriarch was merely exercising his right of free speech.

Asked by Fox News host Greta Van Susteren if Palin took issue with the manner in which Robertson made his comments, the former Alaska governor replied,  “I haven’t read the article.  I don’t know exactly how he said it, but  he was responding to a question about a lifestyle he disagrees with.”

Today, Palin is defending The Adobo Chronicles for publishing an exclusive story about the former vice presidential candidate mistaking the word “mahalo” for “trash.”  “I don’t read The Adobo Chronicles or any newspaper for that matter, but whatever the news site said about me is a right guaranteed by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution,” Palin said.

“I may very well look stupid and clueless in that news article, but I said what I said when asked a stupid question by The Adobo Chronicles reporter. I’m not going to take issue with that,” she added.

Palin is in Waikiki vacationing to escape  the frigid temperatures of her native Alaska.

In another exclusive, The Adobo Chronicles reported on the unexpected meeting between Palin and President Obama who is also vacationing this week in Hawaii.  The political rivals chanced upon each other while buying malasadas from Leonard’s Bakery in Honolulu.
