London, England (The Adobo Chronicles) – Just in time for World AIDS Day, a new social media campaign has been launched in London aimed at ending the stigma for those living with HIV /AIDS.
The campaign, projected to eclipse the phenomenal ALS “Ice Bucket Challenge” last summer, encourages people to reveal a personal secret on social media as a way to encourage those with HIV to come out and not be ashamed of their status.
The campaign has no less than Prince Harry as its celebrity spokesperson, taping a video message that revealed his one long-kept secret and encouraging others to reveal their own secrets.
In his taped message, Prince Harry revealed his secret – that he is not gay.
What is YOUR secret? Post it on social media with the hashtag:
Wasilla, Alaska (Exclusive to The Adobo Chronicles) – Many will remember Sarah Palin’s controversial comments during a speech last year, declaring that “the nation’s high levels of debt, including money borrowed from China, was “like slavery.” While she prefaced her comments by saying “this isn’t racist,” many of her critics still believe that it actually was.
Her remarks were sharply criticized by television host Martin Bashir who cited the diaries of a former plantation overseer who punished slaves by having someone defecate in their mouth or urinate on their face. He suggested the former Alaska governor deserved the same treatment. Bashir subsequentlly apologized and resigned from his post at MSNBC.m
A couple of weeks ago, Palin posted a photograph of her and three African American ladies to her Twitter Account, with the following comment:
“Proof I am not racist. See, I’ve got black friends too — three of them, in fact!”
The ladies were, in fact, representatives of MAC (the cosmetic store) at the Pecanland Mall in Monroe, Louisiana. None of them have ever met Palin before.
Palin was in Louisiana campaigning for Republican Bill Cassidy (R-Baton Rouge) who is currently in a heated senate runoff against Senator Mary Landrieu, D-LA. The runoff will take place on December 6.
Apparently, Palin left her cosmetic bag on the plane and had to stop by the Mall for some last-minute make-up with the assistance of the MAC ladies. She thanked the ladies for “helping out with a travel emergency.”
Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – There’s a new scandal brewing in the Philippines. It’s called Mistressgate (you know, like Watergate). The pork barrel scandal was so yesterday!
The scandal revolves around a dating service site on the Internet involving married people. It’s called Ashley Madison, described on its website as “the world’s leading married dating service for discreet encounters.”
Justice Secretary Leila De Lima, with full backing from the Catholic Church in the Philippines, is considering blocking the site from the Internet in the Philippines, arguing that extra-marital affairs could lead to divorce.
Both extra-marital affairs and divorce are illegal in the country, and is against the Catholic Church’s teachings.
Enter Vice President Jenomar Binay, with the backing of an overwhelming number of male politicians, from senators and congressmen to governors and mayors. “We have to protect freedom of speech and the integrity of the Internet,” Binay said, as he and his fellow politicians vowed to block any move by the Justice Department to ban the married dating site.
Observers say that this is looming as the greatest political and religious comfrontation the Philippines has ever seen because it cuts right through the country’s pervasive yet hush-hush machismo culture.
Most of the politicians backing Binay are known to have mistresses, publicly or privately. Including Binay.
