MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Two weeks ago, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) issued a pastoral letter to all Filipino Catholics, urging them to reject and be weary of “fake news.”
CBCP listed the URLs of what it considered to be fake news.
Yesterday, churches throughout the country read a second pastoral letter signed by CBCB president Socrates Villegas, along with an addendum to its original list of fakes.
The following successfully made it to CBCP’s second list:
Leni Robredo, fake VP
Cynthia Patag, fake profile picture
Raissa Robles, fake investigative journalist
Australian citizen Jim Paredes, fake Pinoy
Rappler, fake Internet news source
Villegas urged the Catholic Faithful to refrain from following the social media accounts and pages of the fakers and to report to the CBCP other possible additions to its list.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Just a couple weeks since it issued a pastoral letter urging Filipino Catholics to be weary of fake news especially on social media, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) denounced the proliferation of Internet lies that Senator Manny Pacquiao lost the fight against Australian Jeff Horn.
The WBO welterweight match between the Filipino and the Australian happened today in Brisbane, Australia.
“It’s fake news that many on social media are using to discredit the religious senator,” CBCP said.
CBCP asked the Catholic faithful to always check their news sources before spreading what could be fake information.
“Pacquiao is highly favored with God,” CBCP said, “so there is no way he will lose any fight in his career.”
BOSTON, Massachusetts (Exclusive to The Adobo Chronicles) – Previously, we reported that the Boston Police Department is investigating whether or not Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo violated U.S. law by admitting during her radio show that she went garbage-diving in search of usable items for her daughter’s apartment.
Boston Police had asked the help of concerned citizens by providing them with photos or CCTV videos that would possibly implicate Robredo in a criminal offense, including trespassing.
Today, the police department released a photo it received from an anonymous source showing a man in blue t-shirt garbage-diving into a trash bin in the same neighborhood where Robredo’s daughter’s apartment is located.
The man closely resembles the person who was helping the Vice President assemble some furniture in her daughter’s apartment. It was a photo that Robredo herself posted on her Facebook page.
If it is the same man, then Robredo has a lot to answer for as the police investigation continues.
