Adobo Chronicles Launches Project: Hashtag MIA

D2BC535C-9D19-4BAB-B800-5C4B26134412MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There continues to be an increasing demand for the Philippine government to change back the name of Manila’s premiere airport from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to the original Manila International Airport (MIA),

Netizens have pointed out that it was a mistake in the first place to name the airport after  a “no-hero.”

Many others have said that NAIA has always been associated with negative references including ‘one of the world’s airports’ to ‘the best and hottest sauna,’ for its frequent airconditioning woes.  This is not to mention notorious schemes including the ‘laglag bala,’ and disappearing contents of passenger luggage and balkibayan boxes.

Even passengers, flight attendants, pilots and Tower Control staff have repeatedly complained that ‘NAIA’ is hard to say, and ‘Ninoy Aquino International Airport’ is quite a mouthful.  They say that ‘MIA’ and ‘Manila International Airport’ have a nice sound to it.

So, to help in finally realizing netizen aspirations to see their MIA back, the Adobo Chronicles has just launched a public service project called ‘Hashtag MIA.’

The project costs nothing, easy to participate in, and could just be the movement that will convince the government to bring back the glory days of the Manila International Airport.

It’s simple enough:  each time netizens post something that has some reference to NAIA, all they need to do is to replace ‘NAIA’ with #MIA (hashtag MIA) to bring home the point.

If the hasthtag goes viral, it may catch the attention of our decision makers who will hopefully ditch NAIA in favor of MIA!

You can start participating now by typing #MIA in the comments section.

Duterte To Declare Ferdinand E. Marcos National Hero Tomorrow

11489C16-3D6A-4413-A5E0-48FCD83C1B14MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Speculation and rumor have flooded the Internet minutes after Spokesperson Harry Roque said that President Rodrigo Duterte will make an important announcement at 3 p.m. on September 11.

Will the President declare Martial Law nationwide? Announce a Revolutionary Government? Step Down? Announce the return of former Comelec Any Bautista? Revoke the revocation of Senator Antonio Trillanes Amnesty?

Well, speculate no more.

The Adobo Chronicles has learned from very reliable sources in Malacañang that Duterte will officially declare that former President Ferdinand E. Marcos is a National Hero.

Duterte’s signed proclamation all but legitimizes the burial of the late dictator at Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes’ Cemetery) which the President had previously authorized.  It also mandates that beginning next year, September 11 will be national holiday throughout the Philippines to commemorate Ferdinand E. Marcos Day.

The biggest clue so far about Duterte’s looming announcement is that September 11 marks Ferdinand E. Marcos’ 101st birthday.

Perfect occasion for the hero proclamation.

The Adobo Chronicles tried to reach out to Raissa Robles, author of the anti-Marcos book, “Martial Law: Never Again,” but she could not be located.  Is she now in hiding inside the Senate Building, like Trillanes?

Leni Robredo Issues Statement On Rising Prices Of Sili

(That is, of course, assuming anyone would buy 1 kilo of sili at any given time.)

STATEMENT OF VICE PRESIDENT LENI ROBREDO ON THE RISING PRICES OF SILI

It has come to my attention that the retail prices of sili in local markets have reached a whopping P1,000 per kilo.  This is unacceptable.  Nakakabahala.

I suspect that the price increase of this spicy commodity is a deliberate attempt on the part of the the Duterte Administration to punish  my constituents in the Bicol region.

First, Duterte tagged Naga as the Shabu capital of the Philippines.

Now he wants the Bicolanos to starve by manipulating the prices of sili, a prime ingredient in many Bicolano dishes, including laing, pinangat, kinunot and Bicol express.

Tama na, sobra na. It’s time for the Filipino people to resist this Administration.

I call upon our kababayan to gather at EDSA in a show of people power against the jailing of Senator Leila De Lima, the firing of CJ Lourdes Sereno, the looming arrest of Senator Antonio Trillanes, the short supply of affordable NFA rice, and now the rising prices of sili.

LENI ROBREDO
Vice President
