The Office of Vice President sent The Adobo Chronicles an advanced copy of a Statement of Leni Robredo on the rising prices of sili (pepper). There are media reports that prices of this spicy commodity has reached P1,000 per kilo. (That is, of course, assuming anyone would buy 1 kilo of sili at any given time.)
STATEMENT OF VICE PRESIDENT LENI ROBREDO ON THE RISING PRICES OF SILI
It has come to my attention that the retail prices of sili in local markets have reached a whopping P1,000 per kilo. This is unacceptable. Nakakabahala.
I suspect that the price increase of this spicy commodity is a deliberate attempt on the part of the the Duterte Administration to punish my constituents in the Bicol region.
First, Duterte tagged Naga as the Shabu capital of the Philippines.
Now he wants the Bicolanos to starve by manipulating the prices of sili, a prime ingredient in many Bicolano dishes, including laing, pinangat, kinunot and Bicol express.
Tama na, sobra na. It’s time for the Filipino people to resist this Administration.
I call upon our kababayan to gather at EDSA in a show of people power against the jailing of Senator Leila De Lima, the firing of CJ Lourdes Sereno, the looming arrest of Senator Antonio Trillanes, the short supply of affordable NFA rice, and now the rising prices of sili.
LENI ROBREDO
Vice President
