PRESIDENT AQUINO: “PHILIPPINES IS NOW OFFICIALLY A RICH COUNTRY”

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – President NoyNoy Aquino will have a lasting legacy to leave behind when his term as president expires in 2016.

Today, Aquino announced that the Philippines is now officially a “rich country,” thanks to his administration’s economic and social programs over the last five years. “We’re now at par with first world countries in the West,” he said.

Aquino made the announcement after receiving a report from the Japanese Cooperation Agency (JICA) confirming that the Philippines is losing 2.4 Billion pesos daily because of the traffic situation in Metro Manila.

The JICA report noted that because of daily congested traffic, workers report late to work, business meetings are cancelled, commercial transactions are  jeopardized, and delivery of goods and services come to a stand still. In other words, productivity is cut by more than half, which is costing both government and private enterprises huge revenue losses.

But Aquino and his technocrat advisers are looking at the positive side to this loss of revenue. The president said that the fact that “our country can afford to lose billions of pesos every single day means we have the money to spare, and only rich  countries have that capability.”

Is it any wonder then that the government seems disinterested in solving the nightmarish transportation and traffic problems of the country, especially in Metro Manila?

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – If elected president of the United States, Republican candidate Donald Trump says he will deport all 11 million undocumented immigrants now living in the country.  And he wants to do more.

He says he will seek to change the 14th Amendment that gives citizenship rights to all individuals born in the United States, including children of parents who are here illegally.

But Trump will not wait to become president to wage his war against non-citizens.  He says he will ask the Department of Homeland Security to deport Ted Cruz, another Republican presidential candidate.  Cruz was born in Canada.

“Ted Cruz has such a nerve to run for president when he is not even a natural-born citizen,” Trump said.  “At least Barack Obama was able to show his birth certificate evidencing that he was born in America.  But it is an open book that Cruz was not born in this country.”

Trump made the comments during today’s ‘Meet the Press’ on NBC, where he outlined details of his immigration policy.

IOWA STATE FAIR RENAMED IOWA CIRCUS

imageDES MOINES, Iowa  (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The state of Iowa holds a very special significance in any U.S. presidential elections. Because of the Iowa caucuses.

The Iowa caucuses are an electoral event in which residents of the state of meet in precinct caucuses in all of its 1,682 precincts and elect delegates to the corresponding county conventions. Iowa is the first state in the nation to hold caucuses in a presidential election year.

It is for this reason that Republican and Democratic presidential candidates were all in Des Moines this weekend, partaking of Iowa pork and everything that the Iowa State Fair offers. Not to mention great opportunities for  political campaigning.

This year, the organizing committee of the Iowa State Fair decided to rename the event to Iowa Circus to better reflect the high-profile guests that have come to town.

With 17 Republican candidates and four Democrats hitting the fair grounds, the committee thought that ‘circus’ would be a more approriate name, especially with the field of clowns and comedians that make up the Republican group of presidential aspirants.

And we’re not just talking about Donald Trump!
