MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Following massive, persistent problems being encountered by the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), Malacañang on Thursday urged Metro Manila commuters to try other modes of transportation — like tricycles.
“Yung MRT lang ba ang puwedeng sakyan doon sa mga rutang dinadaanan nito? Baka naman puwedeng matuklasan yung iba pang mga options,” Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr. said during a press briefing. (Is the MRT the only means of transportation to your destination? Perhaps you can try to discover other options.)
The Aquino administration specifically encouraged commuters to try riding tricycles which abound in Metro Manila. “These motorized pedicabs have been a very reliable mode of transportation in the Philippines for generations,” Coloma said.
No more long lines. No more waiting. No more delays. No more accidents.
LOS ANGELES, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Despite being in a third-world country, Metro Manila in the Philippines shares a rare honor with Los Angeles.
The metropolitan area in Southern California has earned the distinction of having the worst traffic in all of the United States.
Metro Manila has the same distinction not only in the Philippines but throughout the world, which makes such distinction more prized than that of L.A.
Los Angelinos are committed to surpass Manila’s record. A grassroots movement has been established by L.A. motorists to make traffic even worse that it already is — with the goal of beating Metro Manila’s traffic record.
But the Filipinos are committed to hang on to their title for years to come. So good luck, L.A.!
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – When a motorist hits your car and causes damage, your first impulse is to seek compensation or turn to your vehicle insurance policy. Not in Manila. Especially not if the other motorist is Japanese actress Maria Ozawa.
Ozawa, who became famous appearing in adult movies, is in the Philippines where she just completed a local film which competed in the recent Metro Manila Film Festival.
The van in which she was riding hit a car, and panic ensued.
But as soon as Ozawa alighted from her van and said “I’m sorry, I’m sorry” to the aggrieved driver, that was the end of it.
The driver even took selfie photos with the actress using his smart phone.
It pays to be an adult film actress in the Philippines!
