SEX, LICE AND VIDEO TAPE

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Philippine Department of Justice Secretary (DOJ) Secretary Leila de Lima is facing the toughest times of her career as a public official.

As DOJ secretary, she is heading up the investigation of the 10 Billion-peso pork barrel scam that has implicated senators, congressmen, administration officials, the Catholic Church and even her own department. The scam involved an elaborate scheme to siphon taxpayer funds into phony nongovernmental organizations and projects as well as into the pockets of government officials.

But she is also facing a tough confirmation process before the Commission on Appointments.

Among many others, the president of the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines, Sandra Cam, is opposing de Lima’s confirmation as DOJ secretary. Cam has accused de Lima of engaging in “illicit affairs” and claims to have a video tape of de Lima having sex with men, including her personal driver. While de Lima’s marriage has been annulled, Cam says that the secretary’s affairs involved married men. Cam has not publicly released the alleged videotape.

In countering the allegations, de Lima questioned the motives and credibility of Cam, saying that the whistleblower must be harboring lots of lice in her head. Asked by reporters if she meant “lies,” de Lima made it clear she  meant “lice,” adding that Cam is just jealous because she can’t get men to have sex with her because of her head lice. “I mean, come on, who would ever want to have sex with a woman with lice,” de Lima said.

Already, many netizens are calling this rivalry between the two women “the battle of the gross!”

TEACHER BRANDISHES KNIFE AT STUDENTS TO GET A RIDE TO JACK IN THE BOX

imageAltadena, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – A veteran high school teacher is in jail after he asked three students for a ride, holding a knife and ordering them to drive him to a Jack in the Box.

John Edward Maust, 34, a teacher at Arroyo Pacific Academy in Arcadia for the past 10 years, was standing on a sidewalk in Altadena on Saturday night when three 17-year-old boys from the academy drove by and stopped to say hello, Los Angeles County deputies said.

Maust appeared to be intoxicated as he walked toward them, the students told investigators. Maust asked for a ride, and the boys agreed.

Something Maust said in the car caused the driver to pull over and the students to jump out, but the teacher ordered them back, pulled a knife and told them to take him to the restaurant, deputies said. One of the boys was able to call 911 as they drove. image

In a signed statement provided to the police, Maust admitted to everything the students accused him of – except for one thing. He said he never asked to be taken to Jack in the Box. “I don’t even like their burgers and fries,” he said. “I asked to be taken to In-N-Out Burgers. When it comes to burgers, I have class,” he added.

SOLVING MANILA’S TRAFFIC MESS THROUGH COLOR CODING

imageManila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Celebrated fiction author Dan Brown, in his latest novel, The Inferno,  described Manila as the ‘Gates of Hell,’ mostly because of the nightmarish traffic that’s an everyday occurence in this Philippine metropolis.

The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), commonly called number coding is a road space rationing program in the Philippines that aims to reduce traffic congestion, in particular during peak hours, by restricting the types of vehicles that can use major public roads based on the final digit of the vehicle’s license plate.

Everyone knows the number coding is grossly ineffective. So, in a radical move to try to finally end Manila’s daily traffic gridlock, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) today announced a new traffic control system not based on numbers but rather on colors – the colors of the rainbow.

Here is how it works:

  • Vehicles colored RED will be banned from Manila streets on Mondays
  • Vehicles colored ORANGE will be banned on Tuesdays
  • Vehicles colored YELLOW will be banned on Wednesdays
  • Vehicles colored GREEN will be banned on Thursdays
  • Vehicles colored BLUE will be banned on Fridays
  • Vehicles colored INDIGO will be banned on Saturdays
  • Vehicles colored VIOLET will be banned on Sundays
  • The ban is not imposed on national holidays

‘What if a vehicle has ALL the colors of the rainbow, ‘ The Adobo Chronicles asked the MMDA. Its response:  rainbow-colored vehicles will be exempt from the ban. image

Immediately after the announcement, Kia Philippines, the local franchise of the South Korean car manufacturer, said that beginning with its 2015 models, rainbow-colored cars will be available to its customers for a small surcharge.
