MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine cops are distributing paper masks of horror characters as well as of Presidents Barack Obama Rodrigo Duterte to remind the public of safety tips for the upcoming Halloween season.

The Philippine National Police (PNP)’s Community Relations Groups (PCRG) has started handing out horror-themed masks  with safety tips printed at the back in different establishments and train stations in Metro Manila.

PCRG Director Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz explained that the inclusion of Obama in the police’s Halloween masks was not intended to shame the American president  even after  Duterte’s recent announcement of severing ties with America. In fact, Cruz said they decided to use Obama masks “in a good way” as it would pique the public’s curiosity.

But the good intention of the PCRG didn’t sit well with many Filipinos and Americans residing in the Philippines.  They criticized the masks, albeit for strange reasons.

The critics said neither of the masks looked like Duterte nor Obama.  Rather, they said that the Duterte mask looked like Dallas Mavericks NBA team owner Mark Cuban, while the Obama mask looked like the late comedienne Joan Rivers.

BREAKING: U.S. Citizens Now Need A Visa and $10,000 To Visit Philippines

img_6490BEIJING, China (The Adobo Chronicles, Tokyo Bureau) – Filipinos, no more the little brown brothers of America. With no equal benefits.

Speaking to the Filipino community in China’s capital on Wednesday, Phi lipping President Rodrigo Roa Duterte complained that Americans can enter the Philippines visa-free while Filipinos have a hard time securing a travel document to visit the US.

Duterte said he was once denied a US visa when he planned to visit a girlfriend in college. He narrated that he was asked what would happen if he decided to marry and stay in the US, to which he replied,  ‘Mr. Consul, even if you offer me free visas for a lifetime and even if you offer me 10,000 dollars, I’d still return to my country and be a Filipino.’

So now, it’s time for reckoning.

Effective immediately, all US citizens visiting the Philippines — including President Obama and other American politicians — will be required to secure a visa. In addition, they have to pay the Philippine government 10,000 in non-refundable, good faith green bucks as an insurance that they will not overstay their visas and become TNTs (Tago ng Tago). Mastercard, American Express or Discover cards will not be accepted.

TNT, which literally means ‘always hiding,’ is often used to refer to Filipinos who overstay their visas in the US.

Filipino American Millionnaire To Donate All Her Money To Build Drug Rehabilitation Centers In The Phlippines

IMG_6439.JPGSAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – She’s Filipina American, multi-millionaire, chair of the US Pinoys for Good Government, and a staunch supporter of the Yellow Liberal Party.  Her name is Loida Nicolas Lewis, chief campaigner for defeated presidential candidate Mar Roxas.

And she has it both ways.  Once, she said some very kind words about Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Then, she signed a letter to the Miss Universe Organization to cancel the Miss Universe pageant scheduled to be held in the Philippines next January.  The letter cited an unfavorable atmosphere under the Duterte presidency.

But she is also a philanthropist.

So, because of her love of her homeland, she announced today that she was divesting herself of her millions — $600 Million as a matter of fact.

She wants to donate all her money to build drug rehabilitation centers in the Philippines, to complement Duterte’s war on drugs which saw more than half a million Filipino drug dealers and users voluntarily surrender. It’s her way of continuing the Aquino administration’s “Daang Matuwid.”

Wishful thinking.
