VP Leni Robredo Unveils ‘Just Do It’ Campaign For Filipino Youth

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – She has called for the decriminalization of drug use.  Now, Vice President Leni Robredo, encouraged by recent pronouncements by drug experts, has unveiled her latest campaign directed at Filipino youth.

Calling it “Just Do It,” Robredo said the campaign aims to encourage young people not to even think twice before using illegal drugs. “It does no harm,” she says.

The new national campaign came just days after two international experts spoke at a drug conference at the University of the Philippines 🇵🇭 .

Dr.  Carl Hart, head of Columbia University’s Psychology Department debunked President Rodrigo Duterte’s claims that the repeated use of shabu (methamphetamine) shrinks a user’s brain over time. “The data simply isn’t there,” said Hart, whose area of research includes “behavioral and neuropharmacological effects of psychoactive drugs in humans.”

At the same time, Agnes Callamard, United National special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions declared that Duterte’s war on drugs does not work as it breeds more problems for the government.

Malacañang has not yet responded to The Adobo Chronicles’ request for comment on Robredo’s new project.

UN Rapporteur Applies For Political Asylum In The Philippines

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Agnes Callamard, Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Summary or Arbitrary Executions of the UN Office of the High Commission for Human Rights (OHCHR), is currently in the Philippines attending a number of events and “academic engagements.”

Her presence in the country has been met with criticism because she did not coordinate her travel with the Philippine government which is the usual protocol for someone in her position.

The OHCHR said that Callamard is here not on official mission.

Now, we know the purpose of her trip.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Callamard said that she is here to apply for political asylum.

She said she has made the decision to escape the emotional, mental and political persecution she has been experiencing at the UN. “Everything I’ve said about President Duterte, the war on drugs, and the Philipppines has been forced on me and I did it under duress.”

“I can no longer in conscience continue to promote the lies that have been hurled against Duterte by elements out to destablize his administration and take him down from the presidency.  I have decided to stop being used for this purpose,” Callamard added.

So there you have it.  For those who have been bashing Callamard, take a deep breath.  She’s actually one of us!
