What Court Of Appeals Meant By Giving Rappler “Corrective Period”

611AD227-6779-4E08-8B5C-7149F1F0994CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  While almost all news media were reporting that the Court of Appeals has denied Rappler’s petition for a reconsideration of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ruling revoking its media license, the online news source is focused on a different headline — that of the Court’s admonition that SEC should give Rappler a “corrective period,.”

So just how exactly can Rappler correct something that was illegal in the first place, violating the Constitutional provision that Philippine media should be owned 100% by Filipinos?

So, The Adobo Chronicles  sought clarification from the Court of Appeals.  Here’s its response:

”We were using ‘corrective period’ as a figure of speech.  What we really meant was that Rappler should be given the chance to correct its vision — since it obviously sees things through a Yellow lens.  Perhaps Maria Ressa and her team should schedule a visit with an opthalmologist or optometrist.”

That’s crystal clear.

Senator Leila De Lima To New House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo: Please Help Me Seek Medical Attention Abroad

544682FB-6F2B-4A60-B98A-C21543C24796QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima is asking the help of newly-elected House Speaker (and former President) Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to obtain a travel permit to seek medical check-up abroad.

The request came in the form of a text message which De Lima sent to Arroyo just minutes after the latter was elected new Speaker of the House of Representives.

“Let bygones be bygones,” De Lima told Arroyo in her text, referring to that time when the then Justice Secretary refused to grant the former President a permit to travel abroad to seek medical treatment.  This, despite a ruling from the Supreme Court to allow Mrs. Arroyo to travel abroad.

”I appeal to your sense of compassion to a fellow woman. Babae ako,”  De Lima said, “and I am confident that you will act favorably on my request.”

The Adobo Chronicles tried to reach Arroyo at her La Vista residence for comment, but we couldn’t connect with her.

We’ll keep on trying.

Kris Aquino Confident Her Brother NoyNoy Won’t Go To Jail For Dengvaxia Mess. Here’s Why…

16751789-3217-4821-B34C-133FA23D0858.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Kris Aquino reportedly just sent another text message to President Rodrigo Duterte asking him not to jail her brother  NoyNoy for the Dengvaxia mess.

Kris’ text came just hours after it was reported that the National Bureau of Investigation has filed a complaint before the Ombudsman recommending the investigation and prosecution of PNoy and other Aquino administration officials for the botched Dengvaxia vaccination program.

This is the second time that Kris sent Duterte a text message.  The first time, as revealed by the President himself, was when the self-proclaimed Queen of All Media pleaded that her brother not be jailed for the Mamasapano massacre incident.

The Adobo Chronicles asked Kris why she was confident that Duterte would not jail her borther.  She responded:

”Remember during a recent radio interview regarding Mocha Uson’s social media post of a video of my dad Ninoy being kissed by two women? Well you know that Bong Go apologized and I said during that interview that  “friends na kami ni PRRD.”

”So I am very confident that my friend PRRD will not jail my brother for Mamasapano or for Dengvaxia,” Kris said.
