MEXICO CITY, Mexico (The Adobo Chronicles) – It’s the biggest news in Mexico and the United States: drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman has been re-captured after escaping from prison and being on the run for the past six months.,

Guzman faces drug trafficking charges in the United States and the Mexican government has expressed its willingness to extradite him to the U.S.

Now it is known that Guzman spent  hours talking to American actor Sean Penn, who interviewed him for a magazine during a secret meeting in the Mexican jungle. It was during that meeting with Penn that El Chapo expressed his interest to have his life depicted in a Hollywood film.

Guzman’s Hollywood ambition supercedes his drug business interests or the potential for his incaceration so he expressed his willingness to voluntarily surrender to U.S. authorities as long as they allow him to film and finish a Hollywood movie about his life. He wants to play himself in the movie.

Sean Penn  wanted to play the role of Guzman in the film but he says he is as excited directing it.  It could be an Oscar-winning film, Penn says.

Philippines Is First Country To Purchase Human Passenger Drone From China

imageLAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles ) — Chinese drone maker Ehang Inc. has unveiled what it calls the world’s first drone capable of carrying a human passenger, and the Philippines was the first country to place an order for use by President NoyNoy Aquino.

The Guangzhou, China-based company pulled the cloth off the Ehang 184 at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the CES gadget show. In a company video showing it flying, it looks like a small helicopter but with four doubled propellers spinning parallel to the ground like other drones.

The electric-powered drone can be fully charged in two hours, carry up to 220 pounds and fly for 23 minutes at sea level, according to Ehang. The cabin fits one person and a small backpack and even has air conditioning and a reading light. With propellers folded up, it’s designed to fit in a single parking spot.

It is designed to fly about 1,000 to 1,650 feet off the ground with a maximum altitude of 11,500 feet and top speed of 63 miles per hour.

After setting a flight plan, passengers only need to give two commands, “take off” and “land,” each controlled by a single click on a Microsoft Surface tablet, the company said.

The traffic in Metro Manila in the Philippines is so bad that even the president cannot  navigate its streets and thoroughfares without being stuck on the road for hours at a time.

“The human drone is perfect for the president so he can go about his daily duties without having to worry about traffic, especially in Metro Manila,” according to a spokesperson for Aquino.

While the spokesperson refused to disclose Aquino’s weight, he assured reporters that the president definitely weighs less than 220 pounds.

Filipino Americans Flood Miss Universe Apartment With New, Expensive Cookware

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Miss Universe Organization gave Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines a $300,000 crown adorned with expensive gems, but it apparently can’t afford to loan the new Miss Universe a clean, decent cooking pot.

A photo posted on the Miss Universe social media site showing Wurtzbach, a culinary graduate, preparing a Filipino home-cooked meal using an old, dirty and rusty iron cooking pot immediately went viral.

The humble Filipina beauty didn’t seem to be bothered or complaining.  But Filipino Americans across the continental U.S. had a different take.  They were enraged that their beauty queen was not being treated in a royal manner.

In just hours after the photo went viral, hundreds of packages arrived by Federal Express and UPS at the Manhattan apartment of the new Miss Universe.  The packages contained new, expensive, and designer cookware for Wurtzbach to use.

“I am overwhelmed and feeling so loved,” Wurtzbach said, but I can’t really use every single cookware gift that I received.  I’ll most likely donate most of them to charity.”

Gracious as usual, this new Miss Universe.  Worthy of the crown.  Worthy of all the love and admiration.
