Philippines Adopts Immigration Exchange Policy With The United States

img_7614MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Immigrating to the United States has just become easier for Filipinos. Likewise for U.S. citizens wanting to permanently move to the Philippines.

The government of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has approved a bilateral immigration policy with the U.S. in which Americans wishing to escape a Donald Trump presidency can apply for Philippine citizenship with no questions asked, while Filipinos not happy with the Duterte administration can immediately obtain a green card and move to the U.S.

The new bilateral agreement was met with excitement in the Philippines, and already, prominent Philippine citizens have indicated their desire to avail of the immigration exchange, among them, Senators Leila de Lima and Alfonso Trillanes, retired entertainers Cynthia Patag and Leah Navarro, and journalists Raissa Robles and Maria Ressa.

On the U.S. side, The Adobo Chronicles has received confirmations that American celebrities who have promised to leave the country if Donald Trump is elected president are definitely availing of the immigration exchange and will permanently move to the Philippines, among them, Barbara Streisand, Cher and Jennifer Lawrence.

One Million March Planned To Protest Miss Universe Pageant In Manila

IMG_7602.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Sometime in October, a group of 260 Filipinos and Filipino Americans signed a letter addressed to the Miss Universe Organization asking that the 2016 pageant be pulled from the Philippines.  The petitioners included familiar names like Filipino American millionaire Loida Nicolas-Lewis, retired entertainer Leah Navarro, and former beauty queens Aurora Pijuan and Gemma Cruz-Araneta.

The petitioners argued that the newly-elected leaders of the country, led by no less that President Rodrigo Duterte and his cohorts have demonstrated “objectionable, scandalous, and demeaning sexist attitude towards womankind.”

We all know of course that the letter-petition was a total failure.  The 65th edition of the pageant will, indeed, be held in the Philippines and some contestants have already arrived in the country.

But the petitioners are not conceding defeat.  They are planning a one million people power march on January 30 to protest the staging of the pageant in the Philippines.  It will be held at Luneta Park, not far from the venue of the pageant finals at the Mall of Asia.

When asked by The Adobo Chronicles how many people have signed up so far to join the one million march, a spokesperson for the group said: “260.”

BREAKING: Ruth Ginsburg Quits U.S. Supreme Court, Moves To New Zealand

IMG_7587.JPGWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – It was just a matter of time. Ruth Bader Ginsburg has stepped down from the U.S. Supreme Court, leaving two vacancies that incoming President Donald Trump will be filling.

In July, Ginsburg told the New York Times that if Trump is elected president, she would abandon the U.S. for New Zealand.

She is a woman of her word.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the celebrities who promised to move out of the country if Trump is elected — among them Jennifer Lawrence, Barbara Streisand, Jon Stewart, Samuel Jackson, Cher , and many more — will fulfill their promise.
