WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Unknown to many, former U.S. President Barack Obama has filed an oral defamation lawsuit in a Virginia District Court against Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

Obama is suing Duterte for the latter’s very public cussing several years ago against the then incumbent American President. He called Obama ‘Son-of-a-b*tch.’ (In Tagalog, ‘P*tang ina mo.’)

Lawyers for Duterte however challenged Obama’s claim and presented just one star witness: Google Translate.

The lawyers presented Exhibit A showing that according to Google Translate, ‘P*tang ina mo’ literally translates into ‘Put your mother.’ “So what’s defaming about that,” they asked the judge.

The judged agreed and lawyers for Obama immediately dropped their case.

All’s well that ends well.

Colombians Very Disappointed Steve Harvey Didn’t Make A Mistake

Miss South Africa, left, and Miss Colombia, right

BOGOTÁ, Colombia (The Adobo Chronicles, Miami Bureau) – It was a moment dreaded by all who watched this year’s Miss Universe Pageant held in Las Vegas.

Two years ago, on the same stage, pageant host Steve Harvey announced the wrong winner — Miss Colombia instead of Miss Philippines.

Well today, that tense moment was relived all over again, and for the Colombians, they had one fervent wish. They were hoping Harvey announced the wrong winner. Again.

The last two women standing were Miss South Africa and Miss Colombia. Then, when Harvey announced the Miss Universe winner, he  confidentently said, “Miss South Africa.”

Then there was silence in all of Colombia.

The Colombians were waiting for Harvey to come back on stage while Miss South Africa was being crowned to say that he made a mistake, and that it was actually Miss Colombia who was the winner.

But the Colombians waited and waited and waited.

This time, Harvey got it right. South Africa was indeed the winner.

Maybe, next year?
