Nobel Prize Awaiting Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes?

1ADED901-DF50-4DE1-B6EE-3E2816E51D24MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – This year’s Nobel Peace Prize may already have been announced (two winners: Denis Mukwege of Congo and Nadia Murad of Iraq), but  a second prize is reportedly awaiting Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes.

Trillanes is a staunch critic of Rodrigo Duterte and has gone as far as the International Criminal Court to call for the investigation of the Phiippine President’s alleged crimes against humanity.

But alas, something was lost in translation.

When Trillanes heard of the impending prize, he apparently didn’t realize it was about a NoBail prize — one that will surely come his way if the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch No. 148 decides to issue a warrant of arrest for his alleged role in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny, which was revived after President Rodrigo Duterte voided his amnesty last month.

Mutiny is a non-bailable offense.

Stragolgate: Lacierda Says ‘Sorry,’ Robles Will Make Sumbong

Unholy Trinity: Lacierda, Robles, Sasot

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Former PNoy Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda and self-proclaimed investigative journalist Raïssa Robles have made fun of Rodrigo Duterte’s Visayan accent, particularly the President’s mention of the word ‘stragol’ (struggle) in a recent public statement.

Lacierda has since apologized, claiming it was not his intention to mock the Visayan dialect while admitting it was culturally insensitive.

But Robles is not throwing in the towel.  On the contrary, she plans to write to the Dutch Government and ask that Netherlands-based Sass Rogando Sasot be deported.

It all started when Sasot posted a ‘riddle’ that ridiculed Robles for making fun of Duterte’s accent. The post consisted of four witty lines that all rhymed with ‘’stragol.’

That didn’t sit well with Robles who responded directly to Sasot, saying that she will be writing to the Dutch and Duchess of The Netherlands — sorry, we meant to say Dutch Embassy — to warn them that the blogger is spreading fake news.D0A7A6C7-95F5-49EA-B8A1-28D6CE0F15D2

Suddenly, the investigative journalist, author of a now irrelevant book on the Marcos Martial Law, and newbie public speaker with a thick English accent has turned to her childlike instinct to make sumbong to higher authorities whom she hopes would side with her frailties as a woman.

Agri Sec Manny Piñol Says PH Will Import Sili From Chile

A4ECC71E-5BB9-486A-9B24-7BF34BA8F6EF.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol is a very busy man these days.  First he has to deal with the short supply of NFA rice and the increasing prices of commercial rice.  Then he also has to resolve the hot issue of the high prices of sili.

Well, problem solved, as far as sili is concerned.

Today, Piñol told The Adobo Chronicles that President Rodrigo Duterte has given the go signal for the Philippine government to import an undisclosed number of metric tons of sili from the South American country, Chile.

Piñol said this would greatly alleviate the burden of many Filipinos regarding their supply of sili and ensure their continued enjoyment of popular and traditional cuisine such as Bicol Express, sisig, laing and many other local delicacies.

Asked why PH chose to import from Chile instead of nearby countries like Thailand or Vietnam, Piñol said Duterte likes the rhyme between sili and Chile.

Well, whatever works!
