MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Former Philippine President NoyNoy Aquino goes down in history as the first ever human being who is going into hibernation.  Previously, only certian animals hibernate, including bears, bats, skunks, bees, snakes and groundhogs.

In an interview with Radyo Inquirer, Aquino said that he would refrain from giving comments about the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte for a year—a period which he deemed as a reasonable time for his successor to adjust in his job. He reiterated his promise of not giving unsolicited advice to Duterte for the meantime.

When contacted by The Adobo Chronicles, Aquino however said that he has no control over his sister Kris, who might on her own, give unsolicited advice to Duterte.

British Prime Minister Theresa May

LONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – The British government today issued a clarification regarding a news report published in the Da1lymail.com that Filipinos are now eligible to visit the United Kingdom without obtaining a visa.

The report stated that newly-appointed British Prime Minister Theresa May had announced a new visa policy for 3 countries that included the Philippines, Republic of South Africa and Rwanda.

The decision reportedly took into consideration the Socio-Economic, Political, Foreign and Human Rights Policies instituted over the past 60 months by the named countries.

Today, however, the Office of the British Prime Minister clarified that the news report is not entirely true, saying that only Filipino citizens who speak with a British accent are eligible for the new visa-free policy.

So, Pinoys, it’s time to practice your British accent!

If It’s Not In The Bible, Senator Manny Pacquiao Is Confused

image.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Although neophyte Philippine Senator Manny Pacquiao may not understand the constitutional principle of the separation of church and state, he seems to exhibit extremely competent knowledge of what’s in the bible.

In the last few weeks, Pacquiao used the bible to support his arguments on legislative and other issues  ranging from the death penalty to the controversial burial of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos in Libingan Ng Mga Bayani (National Heroes’ Cemetery).

He has argued that even God kills people, and that God, as a forgiving God, is willing to forgive the sins of Marcos.

But when confronted with an issue that is not mentioned in the bible, the boxer-turned-senator was totally confused.

During a senate hearing attended by National Youth Commission chair Aiza Seguerra, Pacquiao didn’t know how to address the self-identified transgender showbiz celebrity.

As he posed a question, Pacquiao went back and forth in referring to Seguerra as “Mr., Mrs., Mr.”

“Hindi po ako Mrs.,” Seguerra replied.

Seguerra, who previously self-identified as lesbian, had publicly come out as a transgender man.

When interviewed by The Adobo Chronicles after the Senate hearing, Pacquiao said, “I was so confused.  I didn’t know how to address Miss, er, Mr. Seguerra because there’s nothing stated in the bible about transgender men.”

Well, that’s what happens when a politician legislates based solely on his knowledge of the bible.
