CHR’s Chito Gascon Wants Maute Group’s Human Rights Protected

IMG_1735MARAWI CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Davao Bureau) – In his most direct response yet to the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao, Philippine Commission on Human Rights’ Commissioner Chito Gascon has this to say to President Rodrigo Duterte: respect and uphold the human rights of the terrorist group, Maute.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Gascon said that “there is a reason we call it ‘human rights;’ every human being has a right.”

Asked what he would recommend to Duterte to protect the Maute group’s human rights, Gascon said:

“First, the Philippine military should determine the number of Maute group members now operating in Marawi City, then match it with the same, equal number of government soldiers engaged in fighting the rebels.  It is unfair that there are more troops than the rebels.”

“Second, the government troops must not use bombs or other sophisticated military equipment because it puts the rebels at a great disadvantage.”

So there you have it.  Filipinos can truly rely on the Commission on Human Rights to look after everyone’s welfare — rebels or not.

Leni Robredo To Keynote 2017 Gilroy Garlic Festival In California

IMG_1676.PNGNAGA CITY, Philippines (Exclusive to The Adobo Chronicles) – The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has confirmed that Leni Robredo will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California.

The Gilroy Garlic Festival is the biggest such event in the world during which garlic farmers and entrepreneurs showcase the versatility of this popular agricultural produce.

This year’s event will also feature musical entertainment, rides, food fares and a garlic conference.

The organizing committee of the conference said that they have invited Robredo to talk about her experiences with regards to the use of garlic in warding off aswangs, tikbalangs and witches in her home province of Camarines Sur.

Camarines Sur is believed to be the aswang capital of the Philippines 🇵🇭.

Aswangs are nocturnal half-human, half-winged blood-sucking witches that prey on people, especially children.  They are known to be repelled by the smell of garlic.

VP Leni Robredo Appeals For Donations To Help Those Who Felt The Earth Move Thursday Night

IMG_0273QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo has her hands full these days.  She can’t just sit by idly while “waiting for something to happen to the President.”

Just hours after the terrorist group Maute launched a siege on Marawi City, Robredo and the Office of the Vice President appealed to kind-hearted citizens  for donations in order to provide relief to those who were still trapped inside their homes due to the ongoing encounter between government troops and the rebels.

Last night, at about 10:27 p.m., a 5.5 magnitude quake centered near Zambales hit a swath of Luzon island, prompting netizens from Metro Manila to as far as Baguio City to take to their Facebook and other social media accounts to let friends and followers know that they felt the jolt.

Being the forward-thinking Vice President that she is, Robredo ordered the OVP to immediately launch a nationwide appeal for donations to help all those who felt the earthquake.

Donors are asked to contact the OVP to learn how their gift of money 💰 or items can reach those in greatest need.  Robredo promised a full accounting of donated funds, in the interest of the Freedom of Information (FOI).
