Protesting U.P. Students Expelled!

13D4AEA3-FB46-4324-BF3A-DB661AD31026.jpegQUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Dozens of student activists at the University of the Philippines were expelled for their participation at a recent protest rally seeking to overthrow the Duterte government.

During the nationwide protest, the students displayed a ‘memorandum’ declaring Duterte and the U.S. as the “number one terrorists.”

A spokesperson for the U.P. Chancellor at U.P. Diliman said that the activists were expelled not for their political activity but for bringing shame to the state university.

In their “memo,” the students committed a grammatical error that even a third grader wouldn’t make.

The memo said, “We, student councils from across the UP Systems, declares…”

Third graders know that the verb used should have been “declare.”

There were other grammatical errors in the memo.

”We apologize to the Filipino taxpayers for using their hard-earned money to fund the education of these students,” the spokesperson said.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – On Human Rights Day last month, thousands of youth across the country led by Anakbayan joined protest actions slamming President Rodrigo Duterte as the “number 1 terrorist” and leading human rights  violator in the country for his triple war against the Filipino people.

Dubbed by Anakbayan as #DuterTerorista, the President was condemned for his “war on drugs”, the “all-out war” on the revolutionary CPP-NPA-NDF, and anti-terror war against the Bangsamoro people that left Marawi City in ruins.

Today, the leading advocate for the human rights of terrorists — Senator Risa Hontiveros — came to the rescue of the President.

“I have always defended the human rights of terrorists, including the Communist Party of the Philippines and the Maute group that attacked Marawi,” Hontiveros said.  “So if Anakbayan is labeling Duterte as a terrorist, then I have no choice but to come to his defense and fight for his human rights.”

Hontiveros’ bill is scheduled for first reading in the Senate next week.

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez Proposes Magna Carta For Ugly Spouses

27DDCF5F-1D02-4298-9DD5-61DFCB7D1BE1MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines has a Magna Carta for Women, but none for ugly spouses. But that could change very soon, thanks to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

Alvarez, who according to reports, has ‘abandoned’ his wife and justified it on religious grounds, is not backing down on his priority legislation that would introduce civil unions in the Philippines.

Now, the Speaker says his proposed bill would also benefit “ugly and rich” people who remain married only because of their money.

“Ngayon kasi kapag absolute community of property…karamihan ngayon, kung hindi babae or lalaki, kahit na medyo pangit, kapag maraming pera pakakasalan mo,” he said during an interview with Karen Davila.

Alvarez said that an amendment to the Family Code would make complete separation of property the default, instead of the absolute community of property, in the absence of a marriage settlement.

So if you’re rich but ugly, you’ve got a friend in the Speaker of the House.

Isulong ang Magna Carta for ugly people!
