D93F4391-3E67-4D19-AED5-2ED607582BECMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Jover Laurio, a.k.a. Pinoy Ako Blog (PAB) has sent Usec Mocha Uson a formal request for accreditation with the Malacañang Press Corps.

Laurio, who was recently named “Filipino of the Year” by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, said that under the MPC and Malacañang guidelines, she is more than qualified to be accredited.

”Not only am I the ‘Filipino of the Year,’ but I also have more than 5,000 followers.  Plus, I am attending law school,” she said. “If Rappler’s Pia Ranada can be accredited, why can’t I?”

Uson has recommended favorable action on Laurio’s request. The controversial blogger — known for her ‘resibo’ — will be assigned a seat between Uson and The Adobo Chronicles.

Adobo Chronicles Is On Donald Trump’s Shortlist For Fake News Awards!

AEF56CED-9A39-4839-BFEF-610812DF6242WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – The Adobo Chronicles, the international online news satire site based in San Jose, California, is reportedly included in U.S. President Donald Trump’s shortlist for his promised “Fake News Awards.”

The awards which were supposed to be announced Monday will be made public instead on Wednesday, January 17th, according to a tweet from Trump.

Also reportedly in the short list is CNN which Trump has repeatedly labeled as “fake news.”

Upon hearing of the potential award, the publishers of The Adobo Chronicles said that they will reject the award.

”We’re not a fake news site,” they said. “Mr. Trump should know better about “satire.”

They added, “We occasionally will report on fake news, but we are not the manufacturer of such.  With The Adobo Chronicles, what you see is what you get.  We tell you what’s true and what’s fake.”

So, Mr. Trump: thanks but no thanks!

Duterte Declares Martial Law In U.P. Campuses Nationwide

42374243-5870-4F8A-A748-6791A25EDB8B.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The 1987 Philippine Constitution is crystal clear: the President may, in cases of invasion or rebellion, declare Martial in parts of, or, the entire country.

When elements call for the “overthrow” of the governmennt, that constitutes rebellion.

Well, student activists at the University of the Philippines across the country have publicly called for such overthrow.  They even have a giant memo to show for their intention (see photo).

So today, Duterte signed a still unnumbered proclamation imposing Martial Law at all U.P. campuses nationwide.
