MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –Subject to fact-checking by Rappler and Vera Files – Anti-Duterte retired entertainer Jim Paredes was deported back to Australia at dawn this morning. But it was all in error.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested Paredes and put him on the first available flight from NAIA to Sydney.
Apparently, overly-eager BI employees mistook Paredes as the Australian who was reported to be engaged in anti-government activities in violation of the Philippine Constitution. Foreign citizens are expressly prohibited to engage in such activities while in the country. Paredes holds Australian citizenship.
The real Australian concerned in the report turned out to be a 71-year-old nun, Sister Patricia Fox.
As he was being escorted to his plane, Paredes kept on shouting, “Look at me, look at me. Do I look like a 71-year-old nun?”
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Subject to fact-checking by Rappler and Vera Files) – Senator Bam Aquino is infamous for being a credit grabber. Remember when he went around the country proclaiming that he was the author of the free education bill? Well, the facts would speak for themselves.
Now, Aquino is once again grabbing credit by saying that he was the one solely responsible for the designation of Rappler and Vera Files as Facebook’s partners in the fact-checking program in the Philippines.
”It was my video chat with Mark Zuckerberg that convinced him that Facebook partner with Maria Ressa and Ellen Tordesillas,” Aquino told The Adobo Chronicles.
Truth be told, subject of course to fact-checking by Rappler and Vera Files.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – GMA News is reporting that Vice President Leni Robredo has apologized for the viral photo showing her and other politicians posing before the camera — with all smiles — at the otherwise solemn and somber Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, Germany.
The photo, first posted by Ifugao Congressman Ted Baguilat Jr., was met with widespread criticism for the insensitivity to the historical significanc of the Memorial.
But apparently, GMA News misquoted Robredo. What she actually said was that she was apologizing for being Vice President.
