L-R: Park, Kim, and Stone

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – The hit TV series ‘Hawaii Five-O’ has just lost two of its lead Asian Actors — Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park.

Their characters, Chin Ho Kelly and Kono Kalakaua, will not appear in the upcoming eighth season. The characters’ absence will be referenced in the season premiere.

Sources tell Variety that Park and Kim had been seeking pay equality with stars Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, but were unable to reach satisfactory deals with CBS Television Studios.

But no worries, Park’s character will be played by another Asian — or at least a quarter Asian: Emma Stone.

Many will recall that Stone played a quarter Hawaiian character in the Hollywood movie, ‘Aloha.’

Sources close to The Adobo Chronicles have indicated that the TV show will have a new title beginning next season: ‘Aloha Five-O.’

Philippines VP Leni Robredo Agrees To Interview With BBC’s Stephen Sackur

IMG_2507LONDON, United Kingdom (Exclusive to The Adobo Chronicles) – Since that celebrated one-on-one interview with Senator Antonio Trillanes, the hard-talking Stephen  Sackur has been wanting to have Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo guest on his BBC talk show. Negotiations have been ongoing for at least two weeks.

Today, BBC announced that Robredo has finally agreed to appear on Sackur’s show on the following conditions:

  • Office of the Vice President (OVP) spokesperson Georgina Hernandez will appear on the show, along with Robredo and that she will be seated between Sackur and the Vice President.
  • Hernandez will act as interpreter.  While Sackur will be asking the questions in British English, Hernandez will be translating the questions in Taglish (combination of Tagalog and English) to the VP.
  • When answering Sackur’s questions, Robredo will be whispering her responses into Hernandez’ ear.  Hernandez will then relay Robredo’s responses to Sackur in Filipino English.
  • Both BBC producers and the OVP have agreed that Hernandez will have the option to revise Robredo’s responses if she feels that it will reflect badly on the Vice President.
  • If Hernandez needed more time to sugar-coat or revise Robredo’s responses, she will flash a “time out” sign with her hands and BBC will go into commercial.

The Robredo interview will not be aired live in the 🇵🇭 Philippines and the video recording of the show will become the property of the Office of the Vice President.  It will be up to the OVP whether or not the interview will be shown to Filipinos.  Even then, the OVP reserves the right to edit the video as it sees fit.

Senator Trillanes To Sue BBC For Devastating Interview With Stephen Sackur

IMG_2340MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippines Senator Antonio Trillanes says he going to file a lawsuit against British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for a recent interview he had with Stephen Sackur of ‘Hardtalk.’

During that live interview, a video of which has now gone viral across the globe, Sackur pulverized every comment and response Trillanes made regarding questions about the Philippines and President Rodrigo Duterte.

The wide-ranging interview covered topics from Martial Law, to Coups to Crystal Meth (which Trillanes seemed to have mistaken to be marijuana.)

“BBC is nothing but fake news,” Trillanes said, “and they must have been paid by Duterte supporters to have me insulted over and over by Sackur.”

Since Trillanes cannot sue Sackur because the latter is not a Filipino citizen, the senator says he will fly to The Hague to file his complaint before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

When asked by The Adobo Chronicles what his basis was for suing BBC and Sackur, he replied, “Crimes against my humanity.”
