MCDONALD’S WILL SOON SERVE BREAKFAST ALL DAY; HAWAII RESIDENTS AND TOURISTS TO STAGE PROTEST

CHICAGO, Illinois ( The Adobo Chronicles® ) –  Starting on October 6, you will be able order your Sausage or Egg  McMuffins or hotcakes at McDonalds — all day!

The fast-food giant is finally giving in to customer pleas to extend its breakfast menu beyond the current 10:30 a.m. cutoff, The Washington Post reports.

Previously, McDonald’s argued that its 14,000 franchise restaurants don’t have the capacity to make breakfast and everything else on their menu at the same time.  But with the slump in sales and growing competition from other fast food chains, McDonald’s says it can no longer afford to ignore its customers.

However, the all-day fare won’t include everything on the McDonald’s regular breakfast menu. Depending on the location, sausage burritos, hot cakes, Egg McMuffins and biscuit sandwiches will be served.

How about the Spam or Portuguese island breakfast served at McDonald’s locations in Hawaii?  Nope, says McDonald’s. “It will be too difficult to be slicing and frying spam and Portuguese sausage, scrambling eggs and cooking rice at the same time as preparing sandwiches and burgers.”

In protest of the decision to exclude the rice breakfast favorite of the islands, Hawaii residents and tourists will be picketing McDonald’s outlets on Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island every day during the week of October 5 to press the fast food chain to reconsider its discriminatory decision.

The Adobo Chronicles® will be covering the protests live from Waikiki.  Stay tuned.

UNDOCUMENTED MEXICAN IMMIGRANTS THANK DONALD TRUMP FOR BOOM IN THEIR BUSINESS

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles® )   – Carlos Castillo is a 43-year-old undocumented immigrant from Guadalajara, Mexico who makes a living making and selling piñatas from a make-shift sidewalk stall in San Francisco’s Mission district.

A piñata  is a container often made of papier-mâché, pottery, or cloth; it is decorated, and filled with small toys or candy, or both, and then broken as part of a ceremony or celebration. Celebrants are blindfolded before given the chance to break the piñata with a stick or baseball bat.

Until recently, Castillo could barely get by, making no more than $10 a day selling piñatas.

But things have completely turned around for Castillo, since Republican candidate Donald Trump launched his tirade against Mexicans, calling them rapists, criminals and drug addicts, vowing to deport undocumented immigrants and building a great wall along the southern border if he is elected president of the United States.

Castillo started making piñatas to the likeness of Trump and selling them at his stall.

To his surprise, business suddenly boomed and his Trump piñatas have practically been on back order since two weeks ago.  He sells small Trump piñatas for $14 and large ones for $20.  Sticks or bats cost extra.

Other piñata vendors are reporting similar experiences as Castillo’s.

Castillo told The Adobo Chronicles that he is very grateful for Trump’s anti-Mexican statements which have helped his business a whole lot.  “Apparently, many of my customers can’t wait to lay their sticks on Trump,” he said.

“If ever I become a U.S. citizen, I will definitely vote for Trump,” Castillo said.

SF CHINATOWN RESTAURANT SHUT DOWN FOR SERVING HORSE MEAT

Stallions served in SF Chinatown restaurant?
Stallions served in SF Chinatown restaurant?

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – A popular restaurant in San Francisco’s Chinatown was shut down today by the Department of Health for serving horse meat.

The United States Department Agriculture (USDA) has not approved the sale of horse meat for human consumption in the country, although it can be used in pet food.

We can’t name the restaurant pending the filing of charges in court tomorrow, but we obtained a copy of its menu which, indeed, indicated that it was serving horse meat.

The menu item in question was “beef tenderloin with stallions.”

The restaurant owner told The Adobo Chronicles that it was all a matter of misunderstanding (and typo)  on its menu.  The item meant to read, “beef tenderloin with scallions.”
