After Dropping Manny Pacquiao, Nike Picks up Mar Roxas And Leni Robredo

imageBEAVERTON, Oregon (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Weeks after it severed its product endorsement relationship with Manny Pacquiao for his public comments about the LGBT community, Nike today announced that it has entered into a similar endorsement contract with Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo.

Roxas and Robredo are the Philippines’ Liberal Party candidates for president and vice president, respectively, in the coming May 9 elections. (Pacquiao is running for senator under a different political party).

As it unveiled its first Roxas-Robredo running shoes, Nike officials told The Adobo Chronicles that they liked the fact that the tandem is promoting Daang Matuwid (straight path) as part of party’s campaign platform against government corruption. “Nike, as a responsible corporate entity, hates corruption,” they said.

The new Nike product, which picks up the signature yellow color of the Liberal Party, is equipped with a special sensor designed to prevent the users from walking or running a crooked path, Nike said.

The right shoe has Roxas’ name on it, while the left has Robredo’s.

Amateur Photoshop Artist Shows Ellen DeGeneres The Way

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Talk Show host Ellen DeGeneres’ clothing line, GapKids X ED, is all about encouraging children to embrace what makes them unique. But it’s that “empowerment” aspect of the brand’s campaigns that left many confused by the most recent photos posted to GapKids’ Twitter account on Saturday.

One photo showed two white children doing acrobatic moves while a third, older white child leans her arm on the black child seen in the ad. Many people on Twitter took issue with the tweet, which reads “meet the kids who are proving that girls can do anything.” Many thought the photo had some “racist” overtones.

Upon learning of the criticism, DeGeneres immediately fired the advertising agency for her clothing line and asked an amateur photoshop artist to revise the ad.  Here is what the artist came up with.  DeGeneres reportedly really, really liked it!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – According to a recent report by U.S. News & World Reportthe Philippines ranks third in the world among the best countries in which to start a business, beating China and the United States.

As a matter of fact, foreign investors experience  the ease of starting one right upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Terminal 3, in which airport business is being conducted in the dark as seen in the photo above.

Hopefully  no shady business is going on at NAIA.
