U.S. President Donald Trump Breaks His Silence On Philippines-China Relations (Video)

04E660BA-1F85-42D8-9BB4-23CA80D0A73DWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – For so long, Donald Trump has kept quiet on the changing relations between China and the U.S. former colony, the Philippines.

Since Rodrigo Duterte became president, the relations between the U.S. and the Philippines has turned from warm to lukewarm and this has elicited worries and concerns among U.S. and many of its Western allies. The Philippines has always been considered a strategic ally of America in its desire to maintain a strategic presence and influence in Asia.

Finally, today, Trump broke his silence and commented about Philippines-China relations:

Rappler Senior Managers Revolt Against CEO Maria Ressa

E17C13E0-883B-4E44-BAC0-7719F8AAFF2FMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s the best news one could ever receive: that someone just gave you P5 Million pesos.

That’s exactly what happened to 14 of Rappler’s senior managers who received the news that the online news source’s foreign investor, Omidyar Network, is donating its P78 Million investment to them – equally.

But there is one problem: Omidyar’s investment has long been gone.  Rappler has failed financially and has used up all the investment money.

That’s very depressing for Rappler’s 13 senior managers (Ressa is the 14th).  So they are planning to stage a protest rally tomorrow in front of Rappler’s officers to demand an accounting of funds — local and foreign.

More trouble for an already-troubled Rappler.

In Metro Manila, Grab And Uber Face Stiff Competition

C54D51AD-E06C-41C4-9BEC-5E0973380535MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Uber and Grab have both revolutionalized public transportation, worldwide and in the Philippines.

Nothing beats the convenience of booking a ride on a clean, airconditioned vehicle especially in hot and traffic-ridden Metro Manila.

But regular taxi drivers are pushing back. They want their lucrative business back!

So they formed a new company called “Grabe.”

Basically, a commuter just hails a tax cab from anywhere and the Grabe taxi drivers will ask where one is going and dictates the flat rate without the use of the taxi’s meter.

If the customer agrees to the price, then fine.  If not, the customer needs to resort back to booking on Grab or Uber.

Hey, a free enterprise is part of a capitalistic society, so deal with it!
